Water skiing is good example of what whippingboy is talking about.
The skier can gain speed for short periods as the boat turns.

I dont think anyones trying to compare sports. Just commenting its bloody fast.

Personally 50kn on a kite windsurfer boat skates or skateboard deserves qudos.
