I also noted another quality issue with the replacement fuselage that SlingShot kindly after-sent to me. The cut outs for the two bolts you use to attach the wing are not equally deep into the fuselage. Result is that one bolt is 2 mm shorter out to get into the mast cap on the other side of the fuselage than the other bolt. The shortest goes just 3 mm out, the other goes 5 mm out.

On my second photo you can see the difference in depth between the two bolt head sinkholes. The sinkhole on the right hand side is much deeper, so also the bolt tip coming out of the fuselage has longer screw length available to attach more solidly into the mast cap piece. Now one can argue if it makes a big difference or not, which takes a mechnical engineer to answer. Personally i would want as much as possible of the bolt to come out and into attaching well the mast cap component, to ensure my main wing is staying put. So Just highlighting the inconsistency in the manufactured component here... Now again, if just the main wing had a correctly centred mast cap cut-out hole, then i am certain that I would have been able to assemble the Infinity foil as supposed to. As it is right now, its not possible to mount the main wing...

Call your SS dealer and they will take care of it, Slingshot warranty on issues like this are awesome. There is no point blasting them for this and that, as thousands of wings have been sold and used everyday.

I use 4 fuses and 4 different wings for different combo's and they all fit very good...unfortunately there will be a bad every now and again.

He's entitled to be in a tizzy. He's gotten two separate bits and neither worked. Yes, the warranty support is good but it's still a pain in the butt. I had friends go through the same stuff at the end of the blue wing era. Slingshot made it right but losing a month trying to get a wing that didn't leave the factory obviously chipped and dented is a pain. In our sample size (n=2 ) it was about a 100% rate.

When you open the package and something is obviously wrong, it's disappointing. I'm sure it'll all work fine eventually (assuming no bits fall off) but it shouldn't be the consumer's job to do QC. For all the Starboards and Prydes sold, you don't see the same threads. It isn't enough that the foil will eventually ride nicely, we have a reasonable expectation that when we open the box, nothing should be obviously wrong. It would be nice if they would even just eyeball the stuff (e.g. Cyber's fuse), even better if someone did a test fit on a jig. If you think it can't be done, Dave Ezzy would like to have a word with you.

Its a numbers game, the more you sell, the more issues you may read?

SS Hoverglide is an very affordable "Modular" foil system so whenever you have separate wings. masts and fuses it doesn't take but a 1000th of an inch for bolts not to line up. This particular situation is the classic snow ball effect where something has gone wrong and it just got worst, I don't see the point in blasting on about it when hundreds maybe thousands of other SS foils have bolted together first time, every time, with tons of very happy foilers, you seem to think its an everyday occurrence?

FYI - The $2000 NP/F4 foil I bought 2 years ago, the front wing bolt holes were off, quick file and it was good as gold.

A local guys Horue Slant board has fallen apart around the tuttle box after 6 months, I could go on and on about each manufacture we have tested as they can all have engineering faults.

By the way the NP pinkie foil, I know of 3 aluminum masts that bent right at the tuttle head, and took 4-6 weeks to get them replaced, so don't give me that BS on how much better they all are.

And what did Pryde do? Changed their design. Did the same issue affect the following year's blue model? How many Glides have suffered the same problem? Do they have the same failure rate? If they did, that would be an interesting data point. I am not seeing multiple posts here or anywhere else about people having problems.

I know of the same number of SS foils sitting on the bottom somewhere. Their design remains unchanged. The foils ride very well. I've said before that I've recommended them to friends. Still, that doesn't mean they can't tighten up their QC.

Yeah, I bet people were chafed waiting for their Pinkie replacements - they were almost, how would you say... in a tizzy. Maybe now you can have some sympathy for Cyber's frustrations since he's been going at this for a few weeks .

Just wanted to post an update with good news today on this, to say thank you for all kind advises received here and also for Slingshot and reseller for great and timely support to make it right !

It is now 6 weeks ago that I posted my first post on this forum, in desperate situation as brandnew to windfoiling (any foiling for that matter!) and was not able to get my new gear assembled. As it turned out after many tries and first replacement of the fuselage, we also confirmed errors in the main wing component. So the full Infinity 84cm foil kit was returned to Slingshot...

This morning I just received my bag back and eagerly unpacked it to check it out and assemble the foil fin!
I can see that I got a new fuselage, a new 84cm main wing and a new mast cap.
And what a difference this material is !
It is like total night and day versus the first foil set that I had received.
All these components are fitting absolute perfectly together. Extremely tightly fitting and zero wiggle. But never getting stuck, as all can be assembled by hand and dissembled by hand and no need for rubber hammer or other forced moves to slide it together or take the pieces apart. Its simply just precise fitting together like a Swiss watch masterpiece now!

It took 6 weeks from first delivery till today to get it right, but considering Covid19 and all, this was still fine and worth the wait.
