The gate might be open, but only cos people keep ramming it down. The range is closed permanently, enter at your own risk, it is a live fire bombing range after all.

Must've been about as busy as it can get today with the weather/conditions I'd imagine.

Well where I was (a trip Nth) it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected it to be... - more crew than yesterday, but not so bad that it ruined the session. Not one drop in and only had to call two off...

No way, it's not public land. The public were lucky to have ever been allowed access in the first place I reckon.

so its closed now because too many people found out about it, ruined the track camped illegally and left rubbish everywhere. good luck getting there on the beach after all the same clowns go thru without letting their tyres down

Funny thing is the last couple of times there has been bugger all people there.

Just out of interest if the ranger does spot you driving through the range can he pull you over or could you just keep driving pretending you havent seen him.

Some twits have a habit of camping in the navy impact area, I don't reckon camp fires and shallow buried 500 pounders mix??? Contrary to the opinion of self-styled experts that claim to know where all the bombs are buried, the Dept of Defence are regularly finding live ordnance all over the training area, including in areas they were not expecting to find anything. It really is a fkn dangerous place to hang out.

The training area also includes the beach and out to sea (yes they really can ban you from that bit of coast) but for the time being they are allowing access along the beach below the high tide mark when the range is not in use.

I am aware that the 'powers that be' are getting pissed with the constant damage to the gates and people going into the training area, I have it on good advice that people seeing the inside of a court room on either a federal or state trespass charge is a lot closer than people think.

If your going to blow the ****e out of the country side with your rockets and guns, do it away from the population.

That's the Problem, they have changed significantly how they train to be much more aware of Public attitude and environmental awareness and all the greenie stuff. It's the stuff still on the range from '1942' that is causing the headaches.

Whether people choose to have a crack at going into the range is entirely up to the individual, we are all adults here (well maybe not bulldogpup, he carries on like a teen on heat sometimes ) and we make our own decisions. But the info
I have is straight from the Dept of Defence and is not idle pub gossip, people will end up getting charged with criminal damage and/or trespass if they keep ramming the gates and going into the range, it's now that simple, whether you like it or not.

Heck, I'd love to see the range stay open, it's only a ten minute drive from my house and has some greast coastline but I know public education has failed and enforcement with a big stick is coming.

The gate and fence wouldnt keep out five year old kids, and we are talking guys with 4WDs and tools. If they were that woried about it wouldnt they have security there when the surf is good?

I don't reckon your front door would stop the average thief, is that grounds to go into your house without your permission?

pretty bad example, like comparing apples to oranges. Thief breaking into tax payers property compared to a tax payer breaking into ...err... tax payers property...?

The army/navy/airforce dont own the beach, this is localism to the max

Sorry doggie this is one point I disagree on, the defence guys and girls need somewhere to train so that when they get sent off to some war-ridden country they are well trained and have the best chance of coming home in one piece.
