Some interesting tweaks, colours and materials to the super fish coming in a month or two. That said the current model has been universally popular and you can score a great deal on most sizes whilst stocks last.
I will see if I can post a pic of new boards.

Great; thanks - I'd be very interested... my mate has had three boards 'looking for the one' in the 2yrs that I've my 7S. Some people still rag them, but anyone who has ridden one says that they are good [fun].

I rode a 6,8 7S in QLD earlier in the year and it was awesome fun but as pro346 pointed out the 5,8 SP has the same volume as a 6,8 7S so I think I will go the SP

I took the plunge and picked up a 5'8 SP after demo'ing one from Vidlers, Cottesloe. Reckon it will take a little bit of getting used to but am stoked to have finally made the decision. Can't wait to get out on it and will be taking it to Bali on 27th August even if I may not surf it much over there, wave size dependent but will definitely be giving it a go.

On the size topic, there's so much discussion around it online specifically on the Firewire forums, all pointers are that at 76-78 kg I should be on a 5"4. I figured that I want something that gives me maximum chance of catching smaller/fuller waves - being a more cruisy surfer I personally don't need the high performance aspect on the small waves and so figured that the extra length couldn't be a bad thing. Besides, timing was perfect and an excellent used board became available so I snapped it up and reckon I scored a bargain.

Will let you guys know how it pans out.

Sounds good. I agree that the extra length will do no harm - better to be a couple of inches too long than too short...

Post back once you've ridden it three or four times...

What's the deal with that? You rent one or borrow?
I'm in the market for a new board and want something super short.

If I can find a 5'0" that goes well I'll be a very happy man. I weigh nothing and paddle pretty hard so I really want a small board. Been surfing a 5'8" and that still felt too big. Broke that board 3 weeks ago and been surfing my 6'1" and it's just brutal.

Can't find of anything better than travelling with a tiny board

I bought a 5'10 Spud from Vidlers a few weeks back. Dave did a good deal and i'm stoked with the board itself. I'm 93kgs so played it safe with the extra volume.

Love it.

SubaSurf, Vidlers surf shop in Cottesloe have demo Firewires so I took the Sweet Potato for a spin. The demo didn't cost anything, just a copy of drivers license and credit card.

Give them a call.

Haven't had a chance to get out yet but off to Bali on Saturday..............yeeha!
