Had a few waves this morning where it closed out in front of me but there was still some wall on the other side if I could get to it. I can only seem to manage a couple pumps and get half way through the white wash before it just carries me off as I watch the wave go bye bye .
The pro's make it look so easy, but this beginner still needs some help Anyone got any tips? Cheers.
Once you get caught up in the white wash you are generally done... particularly on fast breaking waves like Trigg/Scarbs. You really need to anticipate the section closing down and cut wide and go around it - sort of like a bottom turn - and then pull a new line.
Easier said than done on the waves this morning...
You can also try a floater over it - that way, when you come down you maintain any speed you gained from pumping to get around any remaining section you need to get around.
Geez just float over it mate, look up and smash it[}:)]thats how we roll sorry wrong forum Oh well thats what we do in the LONGBOARDING thingy enjoy the ride
Hahaha I can always count on logging into seabreeze and some arguement between LB/SB or kiters/ windsurfers or crazy/ one minded blokes in the general forum ripping through the threads.
Steady there all, just crack open a beer and enjoy the night. After all tis the weekend and my first quiet one after a good day of surf
Go on Mac, better take that mctavish zimmerframe back to the LB forum Think they're missing their leader with even Kadilak believing you're a shortboarder now
^^^^ seems like for some reason the troll has zero'd in on me. Have been copping red thumbs left tight and centre in the surf report thread simply for saying surf is looking good etc. Gay!
Go easy on old Mac. Whatever happened to riding what ya want to suit the conditions?

I was using the sarcasm font. People who can't pump over whitewater rarely pick up on that.
How's the skills shaping up newguy? Sounds like still right into it?

Yep I know mate, just all in good fun . Starting to get some turns in and pulling into little close out barrels before they devour me. You're lucky being on the east coast, great waves to learn on! So if I ever pop over, I expect to see ya doing cut backs and ripping through the waves

Certainly lucky for the beaches in our region, but personally live an hour and a half from a decent point break, and the accident on the freeway meant it was a two and a half hour drive last time.
I am just really starting to catch green waves but is is difficult to find one that is not already taken.
Enough bichin, it is always excellent getting wet.

I thought it was funny but I'm sure you meant to say SUP

Check Dane Reynolds surfing the white wash I think he is excellent, great surfer http://www.marinelayerproductions.com/news/category/12 The video is call "midnight blue" just scroll down but it has so many good ones. Enjoy
If you were on a SUP you could paddle hard in the section and float over or charge a bottom hand turn in front of white wash and reach the section on other side. You guys know what I mean.
Apart from being barreled or the feeling of a good cutback getting around a section is my favourite thing in surfing. That bit where you pump as fast as you can up to the fallen section go high right before it and then bottom turn around it straight into the steep part on the other side of the section. Geez I love surfing!

Scarbs/Trigg is a **** hole full of closeouts anyway newbloke. Don't let cr*p waves make you think you are worse than you are, when a classic reeling wave will alternately make you feel better than you are. Surf some good waves and forget about scarb/trigg. It's a dump. Don't even bother analysing those cr*p close outs or even letting them play on your mind. Keep your head up mate!

Cheers guys. Yeah PP cheers. Too bad, it's the closest beach to me and my local. Going to keep at it and make the effort to drive and grab better waves!

If I surf metro I surf Trigg mostly... [until a lesser known/rated break starts working early Winter...]
Yes it can be straight and too fast, but learn to master take-offs in these conditions and the rest will seem easy. Like anywhere it can have it's day... I think the crowds are the main problem at Trigg - apart from the frustration it's just becoming dangerous.

You are right there G, when I've surfed else where from reefs and even other beach breaks, I do feel I have that extra bit longer when popping up not to mention my rides seem to rise exponentially In terms of crowds, it's like people revert back to their animal instincts in terms of waves when you are out there!
