My favourite duck dives are when you're in 1' of water and you know you're going to hit a reefy bottom and there's a 6' wall of whitewater bearing down.

Yes, my favourite indeed.

That's the flat hands on the deck on the way down duckdlive so you don't cut your fingers off when you hit the bottom.

On that point i guess to clean my fins up just a bit of light sand paper? Is that okay or will they be stuffed now.[}:)]

Yep I do that all the time if I get a chip in the fin, start with 80g and finish with 120g. One of my boards has glassed on fins so I cop that a bit, or if the chip is big just use a bit of solares and Bob is your aunties brother

JB - as Doggie has already said. And it's very important to take off the rough edges as soon as you get them - as bad enough to get a fin chop, but MUCH worse if the edge is serrated like a steak knife. Cheers!

My knuckles will have to disagree on this one.

I tried the foot crap again today. It doesn't work for me. Maybe it's because I don't completely straighten my arms. I just feel cramped/hunched bringing the foot up to the tail. Plus on most waves I use forward momentum and my knee to control the angle the board is diving on and kind of dive forwards and down. I'll keep working on the foot and experiment but I don't like it.

^^ Yep ended up with skin and chunks off all but a coupla nuckles after a duckdive in the criticaly worst spot of a wave up north once. And pressures underside of board to go with it (3 week old custom). And it was second surf, first day of the trip
