Last year I took two and snapped my short board and had to ride my gun in small conditions which was frustrating.
I'm taking three this year for that reason and because I'm going for four months I'm sure to go through a few. I can also fit three boards in a two board bag so i don't need to spend extra money on a coffin.
I weighed the bag and boards and I'm at 16kgs. With fins, leggies etc, my check in limit of 20kgs will be reached. All the rest will be carry on up to 7kg. Any extra and they'll charge my $20/kg.
If it all gets too heavy, pay a local - they'll appreciate the business.
I snapped a tuflite down south the other weekend. Right through the guttsa. Spewin', I didn't think that baby was ever going to snap and it was going to be my indo short board for the season. Bought a new one again straight away.
Friends of mine in Bali make DHD and Tokoro under licence. If you get stuck with no boards they really arent that much more expensive from the Factory than retail in OZ. The quality is as good as anywhere also. It's just not the Bali it used to be when you had to take your own wax and leggies in case you couldnt pick them up over there.
It's all there on a plate with a Helicopter or speed boat to take you wherever you want these days.
Where would that be CMC, the big brand boards in the shops over there are like 700 + US If you could supply a contact for others it would be appreciated DMS are made over there as well by the man himself. great boards as the others you mentioned are.
