loner - if you stop shopping in major brand stores and bought a cheap chinese board perhaps this surfing odyssey / van adventure might take off the ground relatively sooner...

could be something to look into, no?
haha.

....Don't quite get your Logic there Bakes 11.
1: I'd never buy a cheap chinese board coz I don't really fancy screaming across the ledge at North Point, slamming the nose into that wave's cement-like lip and having the board snap on touch down, then having to endure the frightening predicament of being stuck inside close to the rocks with a jagged edge half of a surfboard attached to me via my leg rope...not nice.
Post script : I don't shop in those " surf mart / shopping centre surf shops where it's all about fashion and nothing about surfing. Truth is I was strolling around while I was waiting for my van to be serviced and had to kill some time.
Ya can't even stuff around with your yo yo in those shopping centres. I had a security guy come up to me and warn me about the dangers of using a yo yo in a public place. ..what a joke... but I co operated. ...

HAHA, nah i was only taking a dig at ya for wastin money on boards in crappy chinese supplied surf stores and not spending it on a relatively more constructive matter like heading down south wher the surf was "S M O K I N G" on the weekend.

i had a little tug on my heart as i watched my brother rip up rabbits... to my dismay i had no board that weekend... it was my anniversary

but. i enjoyed watching.
anyway, what a joke about the yo yo's in public -- has our country become so americanised now that we are to be lectured on the dangers of 'walking the dog' near the public... or perhaps going 'around the world' near a shopping centre is a public hazard as well.

You can always make your own boards. Its a bit messy and they may not look as good close up as the experts or the far east imports but its a nice project. The last one I made cost me about $300. Ding repairs are free.

G/Day fellas got put onto this site by a mate as I am currently writing an article for one of the bigger magazines on the impact surfing and more specifically the surfboard industry has on the enviroment.

And as such I am after feedback to comments I will put up on this site.
Some you will totally agree with and some you will think are a crock of crap but overall it is an exercise in awareness to things you may or may not have considered
before.

I will start a seperate thread but please do not become offended if you use or do something I criticise ,give me feedback with reasonable opinions.

Cheers

Hey, Bakes 11, who says I shop in major surf brand shops ? I DON'T.!!
I was killin' an hour or so at Galleria waiting for the old van to get serviced and I'd had a coffee, a Subway vege delight and was cruising around with nothin' to do for a while. I'd never actually buy anything from those places. Heavan forbid !
Besides you can get all that stuff at Good Sammies a whole lot cheaper.
The thing is you can't even swing your friggin' yo yo in those crap shopping malls.
I had a security guy come up to me and made me stop.
I think he thought my yo yo was loaded.
