Scott and I had a nice surf this morn at tugun - fun and punchy little beachy. We also had a chat to a guy with a fairly new Munro - stunning looking board - 9-4 custom with tint and carbon rail stringers added ! (apparently cost him (a very reasonable amount).
Very nice guy, a good surfer and really knowedgable about boards - a most enlightening conversation.

It did mate - Brett puts a kinda carbon stringer on the bottom of his boards about a half inch or so in from the rail and it runs about 3/4 the length of the board - fantastic idea and I am not 100% sure how it works but I think has something to do with the flex/torsion of the board and adds strength to the board overall.

Just reading about another little bonus with Bretts boards - has anyone come across this before: (see below)

SBT Micro-chip System

Munro Surfboards and SBT (SurfBoard Tracker) are excited to announce an alliance in providing new custom board owners with the SBT micro-chip system included in the deal.

The SBT micro-chip system provides the owner of a new Munro board with an internet accessable way of proof of ownership of their new board, as well as proof of authenticity that it is a Munro original. In addition, each owner of a new Munro / SBT micro-chipped board has the option to take out a 12 month Anti-Theft warranty with SBT (conditions apply) that will cover their new craft against theft for the first 12 months.

While there have been many examples of well known shapers' boards being copied and marketed illegally, the SBT system installed in each Munro surfboard provides proof positive that it is an original and, if it was ever stolen, would be difficult to sell or trade due to the hidden micro-chip within the board. The secure SBT database retains the current owner's contact details, so returning a stolen board to the owner is just a matter of using the internet.

We can also retro-fit the SBT system to your existing surfboard, helping to protect it 24/7.
