I did consider things carefully.
Decided to risk it.

Originally designed as an all round board, they discovered it actually surfed really well.
From Sunova website.......
THE SEARCH is a special design, combining several different areas in one. The board has a pretty classic surf shape with a nice round outline, a lot of rocker, nice and thin rails, nose and tail. Due to its length it also works really well in flat water as touring board, or as pure fun board due to its excellent stability. Weather you want to take your kids to play, or ride 6ft swell, do 20km downwind rides, or just simply flatwater paddle in a lake, this board is as versatile as it gets.
My idea for it is a board mainly for small surf, as that is all I am ever likely to be able to handle. I demmod one in really crappy windy beach break conditions at Merimbula, and it performed really well and was a lot of fun. It gave me a lot more confidence than a smaller surf sup.
I plan it to be my daily go to board that I can flat water paddle, surf, or windsurf.
My tweaks have been to add thruster boxes (on the basis of "why not?"), a forward fin box for a "centreboard" fin for light wind windsurfing, and the colour scheme / finish. It's come out way nicer than I ever imagined.
I won't push the boundaries of what the guardians will allow too far by posting videos of the board being surfed, but if you check out my thread next door there's good footage of Casso riding one in crappy waves.
My idea is to have a board that is maximum fun in as wide a variety of conditions as possible.
