Sorry my instant recall was off. It was a Buzzy Trent quote, I thought it was Noll.

Yeah it looks like a weapon. I'd guess it would be worth a small fortune now if it survived. I think Greg Noll's famous Makaha gun is the most expensive board ever sold when it was sold at a collectors auction.
I grabbed that page from Matt Warsaws book, History of Surfing or something it is called. It's a really good read. So is his website Encyclopaedia of Surfing, well until a month or so ago when he made you start paying.
The switchfoot books from Hodad are really good from an Aussie perspective.
And any of the old guys that lived through it Biographies are good, i'm just about to order the Dale Velzy book.
