I'd have to agree on the Clearwater Whalebone and Hotlog, had both and wouldn't hesitate to own either again.

Don't forget Goddard, he does some great shapes too, I have his Silk Pin. Best bet is talking to a couple of these shapers like Ron Goddard and Steve Del Rosso and explain what your looking for.

Nah,not bagging the hotlog,but its name is true to the design,its more tilted to the advanced surfer,one for log comps.
The Whalebone would be a better fit imo.

Yes one does, as I would.

There was nothing wrong with either I just wanted to try a couple of others, not better or worse just different. The Hotlog was a very reluctant sale, the whalebone would just come in a different dimension combination next time is all.

Find out what Chrispy wants. Im happy to bring it back to Perth if he wants it over here, but I'm not sure id have to check with my airline for size restrictions..

Either way I'm easy..let me know though because ill have to buy a beaver tail jacket, isn't that compulsory for long boarding in Byron.

but lets not just have everybody riding fun beginner steady eddy type boards.

most guys in here have surfed all their lives .

I sure they could handle a bit of a challenge.

hl was my first mal. with my inexperience it was a great board to learn on for me.

Just went into Stewart Maxwells shop Maximum surfboards at Currumbin. Saw a couple of nice 9'1's and a 9'6. 9'6 seems so much more board, what's the benefit of the extra length. I know this is a stupid question for you guys but an honest longboard learning questions for me.
1. What's the benefit of extra length in a longboard when riding? (shortboard=easier to paddle)
2. What's the benefit/challenge with riding a board with rolled edges through to the tail?

Just trying to understand the benefits of some longboard design features and whether they are the same as shortboard and SUP
