If your talking 1/2 inch off the length the base shape also changes,I find 1/2 works a treat,it gives me a little less drive but loses the board up also.

7 1/2" fin compare it to the same model in 8" would make the base ,i don't know or care, but what 6mm.

Yeah I agree that fins don't make a surfer but at the same time they have a massive effect on your board and the way you surf.

To use your example, Jackson close isn't riding a big D fin he is basically riding a thruster setup.

He wants to surf like a short boarder hard off the bottom through the lip etc..

Sure he could ride a D fun but do you think he would surf as good? Or the same?

I don't think he could come off the bottom the same and or have the same turning radius?
I don't doubt he could still surf it but would he be as good as having his normal fun setup? I don't think so.

So IMO fins are very important but I agree they won't make a bad surfer a good surfer but they may make you enjoy the talent you have a bit more.

When I think about it I own a few fins but only 3 that I use on all my boards 99% of the time.

Rubbish. Thats totally wrong and dangerous to assume thats what happens- it doesnt You gradually build a lining on your blood flow system.

Very true. I'm lucky I have a really good GP. Anytime I see her she gets out my history and makes sure I do blood tests and all other necessary checks. She's Russian and is very blunt and tells it how it is. Nothing wrong touch wood
