Big Dave Muir, my absolute hero! Being the same size as Dave (no where near the same level) I must admit I prefer the 30 plus wide boards for stability reasons only. As being a lot heavier you can turn the wide boards heaps easier and it just makes the surf more enjoyable. I thought he was cranking some seriously good back hand bottom turns in a crowded lineup ( I thought it was main break Margret River except for the boats parked outside, probably Stricko's at Rottness). Ah memories of good waves and heaps of noahs, wish I had a sup when I lived there 6 years ago. Rotty and Margaret were my only salvation from mediocre Perth beachies. GO DAVO!!

That is ripping to my (armchair) eyes - the top turn at 1:32 is one of the best pieces of riding I have seen on a SUP - he just hangs up there and waits for the board to do the work. Beautiful smooth carving. The style I like.

Sorry to disagree he catches a rail in the top turn and does not make the wave.

Daves bottom turns are unbelievable giving him speed to burn on the shoulder reckon this is a better wave

Really? Well then, 'the board do the work' not so good in that example I refer to, I guess. Still, great poise so as to wait for the board to come around and not lose it. So strong.

Sik vid dogman, best sup one I've seen on Youtube yet. Unless you were there on the day surfing better than Dave you just look like a tool trying to say his board was too wide. Yeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwww

Congratulations cranedog

nice work DOGMAN getting the vid back up & spreading the stoke that we ALL enjoy as SUPers ..

" You want to run out in front, prepare to be tripped from behind..." Davo keep running mate , its a shame there are a few who need to see the glass half empty not half full ..

Share the stoke & keep the sup vibe positive & encourage everyone on SUPs to evolve this awesome sport ..

Ha Dogman , put ya 14 away grab something in the 9 range & jump on a plane come SUPing in Bali as the other side has just started to fire ..

Nothing worse than armchair critics... Dave shreds and has proven it against the worlds best in Tahiti... SUP boards can be too small and lack flow - Dave is no dwarf - his arms are wider than my legs !!

He rides an 8"5 when its small... which is nuts as he weighs about 140kg's

Inspiring stuff. Nice to see some real power as opposed to all the pretty stuff we are used to seeing, but could never really hope to emulate
Those guillotine lips on the back of the neck would have had in physio for weeks
Could that really have been noah at 40 secs

Great work Dogman! Dave surfing is amazing!!!Does anyone know how big Dave really is? He looks around 6'5" and 110-120 kg? It looks like he dwarfs the board the board he is on.

If you are not sliding the board [such ugly stuff in my opinion most of the time particularly when it stalls the board] then the board is carving and doing the work. The 'drive' comes from getting the board cranked on its edge/rocker and carving it round the body in a harder turn than would be possible without leg extension.

husq your full of ****. the only reason dave looks a bit sketchy is because what hes doing is so critical. as for board who gives a **** the guy will surf better than any of you kooks on whatever board you put him on. as for crowds hes been surfing that wave more han anyone for at least 25 yrs so i dont think hes too woried about what the crowd thinks. stop pulling yourself and just accept that the guy rips and you're jealous

hey pickle, how can opinion be right or...full-o-****, as you put it. Great you had to come out of the wood work to make fact out of what people like or dislike....its a forum and not everyone is going to agree all the time...get over it. funny how people have to justify their choices to others on the internet.

Who are you mate, some ring in none of us have ever seen on here before calling everyone kooks. Husq is entitled to his opinion and it wasn't personal, that's why it is called a forum.

For the record I thought it looked like the board and wave combo was a handful but the guy obviously rips no question.

I usually dont get bothered by the comments of negative web heroes hidden behind a keyboard, but I feel the urge to respond.

I was out strickos with Dave this session and to see him ripping 6 foot strickos in the flesh was all-time!

Firstly the crowd wasn't tense they were looking cause they were amazed with his level of surfing. I didn't see a sidewards glance only 'oohs' and 'ahs' at the **** davo was doing.

Secondly what's with all the know it alls talking about wrong equipment/ bogging etc. I mean honestly boys u sound like a bunch of jealous little schoolgirls. Dave's boards aren't even custom, he takes the few models he gets and makes them work (in my mind he deserves more spono for wat he does). I haven't seen many SUP riders with the balls an commitment of davo. He throws that thing around top to bottom an pulls into anything.

Can't u champs just watch It and appreciate good surfing without all the negativity an hating? I mean be honest with urselves lads yas would probly be to scared to even SUP that wave let alone go vert an tuck in.

Unless u can prove u can do better, Cut the cowardly web hating
