The best tip is...

Don't ......... Hit ......... Your ......... Rails ......

If someone tells me they dont hit their rails, I say there is 2 options, either they are full of ****! or not having any fun.

You decide

Just completed it and it was an absolute piece of p!$s

Gave the rails a polish and a very good wipe down with acetone. Cut the tape and placed it on the rails making a few pencil marks as a bit of a guide. Gave it another wipe down then sprayed the rails with a mix of water and shampoo ( 500ml water to 1 drop shampoo). Pulled all the backing off of the tape and with the help of a mate we lined it up with the marks and then from one end started to stick it down by lightly running a cloth down the centre of the tape leaving the edges untouched. We had to pull it up once to adjust.
Was then a matter of starting in the centre and rubbing the water out towards the top and bottom of the rails. All up less than 3min from backing off till standing back admiring our handy work.

Not going to lie there are a handful of small (2mm) air bubbles but I am very happy with the end result.

Now I will just sit back and wait for people to tell me I did it wrong!

Seriously thanks for all the tips reading everyone ideas gave me plenty to think about and work out a plan of attack

NEVER, EVER, USE ACETONE ON EPOXY !!!

It can actually soften the epoxy (you will notice it as it "clouds" clear epoxy), and will create invisible micro-cracks in the epoxy, (epoxies have additives such as anti-UV ones that can be dissolved by acetone, thus leading acetone inside the material), weakening the rails that can then ding more easily or leak water. Use less agressive solvents: I use "Solvent F" to clean greases/oils, then alcohol to clean the rest.

Thanks for that I was starting to worry that I had done everything right!
