Yes, considering the growing interest in this style of SUP, it is a real pity they have been discontinued. I wonder if they could still dig up the moulds and do another run? With today's computer profiling, it would not be hard to drag the 9'8' out to a ten footer and refine either?

Get hold of a Surftech Munoz 11ft or12ft glide ,or Surftech takayama 11ft Prince Kuhio and forget to bring the paddle

Moulds??? lol, it would be a simple CAD file that with one or two clicks of a mouse would have the CNC profiler pumping shaped blanks in no time :)

Thought id add a little to this post. Last 2 days I borrowed a mates Surftech Takayama 10'3" x 27". I figured if I could not paddle this in the surf then id have bigger problems with my new board coming. Was pretty easy and given it has a rolled bottom, I would not call it the most stable board in the world. It does everything it should, but the feel was not for me (which is good cause it reinforces what stuff I have worked out with Simon@Deep).

Ha ha, if only Casso would give me a go of his 11' deep. It looks really nice; more on the logger side of the performance shaped Laird Surfers. Asked on the forum before, still waiting and not willing to go as far as the other rythming word to get on the thing .

If I had a little bit of your ability on a sup Dr ,I might try to stand up paddle the bigger Munoz.But as I like to surf more than swim I may continue to prone paddle them.

For a few years now I've had a Fanatic Fly 10'6.

Ive also had a couple of Allwaves in 9'6 8'10 and also used a mates 9'5 2014 newer shaped Allwave as well as the pro wave, a Nasih Nalu 11'6 etc.

I love my Fly, i like how it pivots off the tail and also you can walk all over it and get right up the nose. Im surprised not to see more write ups on it actually. Ive had it in small waves and big waves, mush and super clean. Fantastic board for all round fun

The old Laird/Ron House soft top 11' x 27" single fin is great for longboard trim and glide. Got mine for $600 used and the construction is solid. Would be even better with 50/50 rails, a round belly and a maybe a handle.

I have been doing a few customs in this style of sup for guys using them around noosa.I think this is a real good direction for the bigger style of sups and a really cool way to surf them.i designed a few for dane wilson very stylish logger and sup rider and made the board that won noosa fest noserider this year.
Sup is a great way to improve your cross step and noseride skills imo because you have the paddle to steady yourself.
I would be checking the surf tech range .some great shapers with depth in this department. ??

Im Currently riding a old LBLB Sup shaped my MSJ. Great board, I just wanted to get rid of some volume.

What widths and thickness are you going down to on Mal SUPB?

I had a quick look at Surftechs latest catalogue, and as far as I can tell, they are really focussing on the recreational market. Nothing wrong with their boards, just not what im looking for width, thickness and rail wise...

Depends on the size of the person and there needs but the last one I did for 80kg fella who was a very competent surfer and it was 10ft x30 x4 1/4 a bit more of a pinched rail but enough so it had forgive ness and turn ability. Its all about finding a good marriage of rocker line and outline on these style of boards.also the wide point is in a different place to most boards I do.hope this helps .tully

thanks for the reply. My current board is 10.6 x 28 x4. I was looking at reducing the volume somewhat, mostly in the width and rails. Those 2 above look sweet, but Im going for a little narrower and thinner. I know it will be hard to paddle, but nothings good without a challenge right

Comparing to prone boards. Shortboards are about 6' and logs about 9-10'. Shortsup 7-8'. Log?

My 10-6 x 28 longboard shape standup feels like my thinned out 9' prone long board.

My 11 x 31 feels like a log. A lot of volume and weight, and maximum glide.

Still looking for that elusive log. Surf was pretty ordinary, didn't even go in. Found new SUP shop, YOB in Palmyra. Saw the board, a prototype 10'00" and a beautiful longboard shape. Can hardly wait until Lach from the shop gets a few more sizes. Beautiful looking board has everything I'm looking for.

10'0" x 29" just under 4" thick 140 litres. The best rails I've seen on a SUP, not boxy, very surfboardish with nice harder and thinner rail in the tail. Bottom single nose concave running into double concave in the tail. 2 + 1 fin set up. Probably not a SUP purists board but for someone like me coming from a log/longboard background, it really looks the goods

When I first looked, I thought these were normal logs. Then I checked the dimensions, which look pretty spot on. Sweet!!!!!!!

Here's a few photo's of the board that Rune is talking about. 10'0" x 29" x 3 7/8" @ 135 litres. It's an early part of our development of a 'Longboard style' range that we're putting together (11'0", 10'6", 10'0", 9'6".). Brought on by a winter of testing our new 10'6" x 32" family board in less than perfect surfing conditions, and having a real blast - a return to my longboard roots. Really looking forward to getting this one wet ! Will report back once I've caught a few waves.

9'2"-9'6" x 24"-26" is going to be less than 100 litres unless you have it thick and big SUP rails. I just ordered my new log SUP with Simon at DEEP. 10' x 26" x 3 3/4" and that will be 104 litres. I hope to have the rails like surfboard rails (quite fine)

I was contemplating going to 26 wide, but decided to keep a bit of width so that I could get the rails the way i wanted.

With a few 10 foot+ comps popping up around the country, its worth keeping the length over 10 foot.



No worries, gents. Glad someone is thinking about it! I'm keen to whittle things down if I can. That is, once I get my new mini-er minion from simon....and convince the better half it is a worthwhile investment.

Would love to see a few photos of the rails of both your boards, possibly also I showing thickness as well? I'm thinking you could still have comparably refined rails through the tail and still bring it down to 9'6"x25"x3 3/4" or 7/8" through the centre for about 95-100 litres? I can handle a 98litre 7'10" airborne, so hoping the extra length would compensate, and I could go 95 L but til I see the proper design in 3D I'm just dreaming.....

anyway, if someone is around Torquay anytime with a board like that I'd love a paddle.

10' x 26" x 3 3/4" approx 103 ltr. I did a quick review on it in the other section. Only picked it up friday arvo and surfed it sat in horrible conditions. Cant wait to get some good clean waves for it

I bought this big single fin Baby 2th hand from a friend. :)



I paddled it once and in chop its instable and the volume a bit low with but.....
It caches the smallest clean swell like nothing else, has a great glide due the flat rocker and the 25 width works like a charm feeling way less resistance as a wider board. :) A great noserider/cossstep board/adition to my Arborn8.8 for the bigger waves and the Pro wave8.5/9.0 for the really good stuff :)

Yup, it is doable even for my 100kg. The inertia feeling is incredible, you feel like on a freight train mowing down the chop ahead and gliding on anything.

Note that you can play a lot with fins. A single 8" on on it is interesting, the boards feels "in" the water compared to a traditional 10"

Thanx for the tip.I don,t have any other SUP/Surf big single fins as the standard, but plenty of proper Windsurf wavefins I can try on it :)
