I will own a Armstrong Wing one day the design looks very good (BUT the masks has way too much flex in them like the GoFoil with the 200 wing - The NP mask dosen't flex which I think is The Best) I am lucky I'll get the mates rates discount when I buy the Armstrongfoil thanks Armie, Legend. You can stay at my place when you visit Australia just don't call me Bro OK Mate.

Interestingly I was listening to the Progression Podcast Foil interview with James Casey and he said that he like flex in his surf foils but limited flex in his downwind foils. Wonder if that was the inspiration with this mast... that said, the construction looks top notch!

Yeah I did notice the Armstrong mast had some flex be interesting to see how it goes with the new big wings . The MFC was the same but the new model mast is very stiff but team riders did say they liked the flex but I think that's more from the prone crew than the Sup crew.

Regarding the mast flex comments, in my experience some flex works well and feels more lively on shorter masts and smaller wings in the surf. For longer masts and bigger wings as used in downwinders, stiffer is better (both torsional and sideways flex), in my opinion.
Using a wide mast like the on the NP foils will decrease flex but also makes it harder to turn, it's like having a fin with a wider base, this is especially noticeable at higher speeds, so there is a tradeoff.

Hey Robert yes I would agree with you in theory re wider mast harder to turn but in practice it's just not the case. Pretty good example here of Keahi on the NP carbon mast which is still very close to the Alu mast in width , strength and flex and much wider than other mast on the market. He's got this thing turning on a dime. Not saying you can't do this on other foils just pointing out a wider mast doesn't stop you from doing it. I'm an Armstrong fan BTW and think it's build quality is second to none.

You may have missed "this is especially noticeable at higher speeds" Keahi was benefiting from the stiffer wide mast in the ankle biter Wish I could turn like that.

Yeah still not case Hilly there's a bunch of us riding them here constantly clocking over 30kph and throwing them hard around . We all swap try all the different brands on the water and no one has ever said it's harder to turn. Very fortunate here on the Gold Coast we have access to pretty well every Foil

When do you get yours ? You must be frothing.

Not sure maybe next week. Froth factor is huge with holidays in a couple of weeks :)

That video of Keahi is awesome ab he sure does make it turn tight. I agree that for most uses a wider mast is great because it reduces torsional flex and has little downside.
We have noticed the difference mostly when tow in surfing in bigger waves at high speeds with small wings, where the width of the mast does make a noticeable difference in my opinion.

Armstrong rolled up and got out on the weekend. Finish is amazing and it is really light. Had a foil in tiny waves and initial impressions were really positive. Funny thing is the lower weight makes the board less stable. Flex felt awesome when pumping up and turning. Will get some better waves and vid then report back. Stoked so far.

Awesome foil. So different to the Axis foils. Feels more 'surfy' if that is a word. More back foot orientated, short fuse helps with that. Love it and 'no fizz bro'
Wings feel smaller than equivalent Axis wing so tempted by the 2400 wing for tiny stuff. Just seriously exxxy

It might not be lower weight making you less stable hilly. Mast flex is the enemy of stability for SUP surfers.

Not a wobble which I got if the axis was loose just a less planted feel. The axis mast full of water has some weight. Wish they could seal them properly.
