What the sport needs is a fast cheap trailer sailor around 27 ft with a lock down center board a small bulb on the bottom of it , of no more than 200 kg . And some extra 200 kg fixed ballast in center of the the hull . Outboard in well with easy lift and simple filler board to close when sailing , good simple accommodation and purpose built trailer .

Trouble is for a large trailer-sailer you need a large tow vehicle. If you want to save the planet and your wallet, driving a large vehicle for 98% of the time when a little Smart car would do, is not good. It is also not so easy to launch/retrieve single handed.

the best way to deal with TS is to keep them on the hard at a club ,with the mast up ,and drop them in when needed .

I had mine on the hard for years and now she's at home and I wouldn't go back to the hard. At home I can potter away anytime I like and I can choose which ramp to launch at which is the best part of a tser. I can do 50kn to windward. When I was at the club I was procrastinating about jobs and sailing the same old grounds.

i launch and rig solo and it's not hard even with 26ft 2t boat .

I had a TS but I realise now that anything on a trailer should be setup for day sails, quick rigging and a bit of thrills. A dinghy in other words. Heavy TSers with overnight capacity just don't make a lot of sense. Frankly I would rather own 2 boats in that case. A cheap dinghy on a trailer when I wanna go for a solo sail and a bigger hull on a mooring for guests or overnighting with the family.

The falling prices are perfect for someone wanting to upgrade in the next 12 months from a beach marine to a seawind 1000xl

As long as the wife doesn't find out, I don't see the problem.

I had the 2 boats until recently. The maxi trailer and a Windrush 14. You're right in that we could go beach camping and take the cat or go away for a few days on the tser but I sold the cat simply because I a)didn't have enough time to do both enough b)ran out of room to store them plus the tinny and the canoe. Now if I had more time and an acre block......
