That's exactly what I like about them HG, great layout, lines run back to the cockpit, wheel steer on a 28'er, wet area next to the companionway, no more dragging wet gear through the boat, lots of thought put into the design and layout, perfect single womans' pocket cruiser :).

I cant see how boats of similar size and construction (structure) and of a similar 'floor plan', can vary so much in price. So it must come down to fitout and equipment quality as well as the amount of 'options' fitted.

For 1.6 clams, I would be expecting a genset, whether you use it or not. My personal opinion, once you've used a genny, you'll always want one.

It might just be my batteries and or invertor (2000w), but I can barely boil some water or use a toaster before the low batt alarm on the invertor goes off. For me, it is easier (except when on shore pwr), to use the genset.

Southace, you must remember people who buy boat over the 1m mark usually like all their creature comforts (me included). On my boat alone we have 4 a/cond units 2 fridges and freezer, decell unit, 3 televisions, satellite dome, 5 kg washer dryer, microwave, all normal electric kitchen appliances, electric hot water, lots of electronics including 3 plotters, all electric winches, electric bow and stern thrusters, 120amp charger and heaps of lighting to name a few. To run all this we use solar which will just hold things in good day light by you still need a good generator. We have a 10kva (32 amps) generater and 1600Ah's of batteries. It is a complete different world to what you are used to. This is why these boats cost so much. Yes I did not pay !.6, but not much less but my wife is very happy and as they say "Happy wife, happy life"

It might be an old boat but he probably has a young lady.

A client of mine has owned 5 of these and currently on his last, so he says
Amel 54 would be my choice.
