Quick question donk, why did you choose going forward to fire the tack off rather than letting the tack line run? On short courses, we let tack run, bring it in with lazy sheet down forward hatch and launch next time straight out of the hatch. Easy Peasy! Mostly!

I also prefer to unfurl the headsail before dropping the kite as it keeps the speed on more, shields the kite drop and stops any chance of a slack spinnaker halyard catching in the unfurl.

Hi Freeradical

Initally we tried letting the tack line go but because it has been blowing a bit and shy it got a bit messy with the spinnaker stil tethered at the three corners so we decided to let the tack go as we do with the symmetrical and dump the wind out of it and stick it down in the cabin and then repack it for next time

We did pull it down once on the fore deck and relaunch it again shortly after which work ok but we are still trying to work out the best way to handle it

We probably need to go for a sail and try out various ways of dealing with it when we are not racing and get into some sort of sequence

Regards Don
