The beauty of a race or foil kite is if you let the bar go, the kite collapses and loses power, usually falling harmlessly onto the water surface where it will twist and become benign. ...

I had the leash on a foil kite break. The kite crashed to the water but the drag on the bar and lines caused the foil to sit up on its trailing edge in relaunch position. It then sailed itself off over the horizon never to be seen again.

Go to any sup shop.
Ask them for a carbon paddle offcut

Drill holes in it

Put lines in

Unless you pre-fill it with a wooden dowl. Carbon rods on their own are weak as piss.

The flag out on the bar is like the Board riding Maui CCS system. No leash. When you trigger the red QR and let the bar go, you are attached in essence to one tensioned center line only, aka, flagging the kite. To completely detach from the kite you release the Wichard which is attached to the harness rope slider.
On most setups to completely release from the kite requires two steps, activating the main QR and then releasing the leash QR.
Two lines must run inside that PU tube, not sure there's two channels in it like Cabrinha. Some have commented that having no floats could make it easier to have a back line loop around the bar causing the dreaded death loop. Back line trim definitely has its merits however.

Flat MTB handle bars work well, strong and cheap. The thick centre section is large enough to install a nylon block.

carbon tubes can be made stronger by upping the wall thickness

Thought I'd do an amirite type post above.

Brief and utterly useless.

I would rather be holding a wooden bar over a carbon or glass bar. Theres a reason they use wooden baseball bats and not carbon fibre

I really dont see whats wrong with the aluminium ones tho.

Who do you plan on clubbing with your kite bar :)

The benefit of carbon is smaller size and weight, probably not suitable for handle passes, but for travel and having compact gear they are much better.
