... what a travesty! Never watched the show before, and now I never will,,, if this is what they do with kiting, does that mean all the other resuces are hammed up this much..... is it a joke or do they really think people will believe this sort of thing happens???? Shame shame shame,,,,, its a bloody shame!!!

I also climb when there is no wind. The other day a TV series (probs this one) had two of the actors climbing together, each on a rope... but yet in the show there was no one on the other end of their ropes... Fail

Long story short tv shows/movies never get things right!! And kiteboarders like to bitch and gossip and watch trashy tv series.... hehe =)

Since we say Cabrinhas like Trees... Can we now say Slingshot likes buildings.... =)

If anyone comes into the shop looking for lessons and mentions rescue special flops and has concerns about the safety of kiting they will be slapped and told to take up lawn bowls.

I was wondering about the wrestling scene, good to hear it struck you folks as a bit strange too. Sad to say though, this is historic TV. I am not aware of another fictional TV segment involving lofting. Hopefully Joe Public will make the connection as to just how improbable the thing would be as shown. Who would think Rallys could boost so insanely well in lighter winds and on short lines too. So, it was fairly ineptly pulled together, still there is some ironic humor to it.

... you know, there must have been some one in the production crew who was advising them what to do, how to 'make it authentic'! Did they even approach some experts, you'd think they would? So who was it, the local shop????? Maybe the 'on set expert' told 'em and were ignored, now they look like d!cks!

I wonder what real rescue guys think of it, or what they think of the show in general?

Still, shameful!! Oh well, it is entertainment after all.

i'd believe it if she was on a 08 rhino ,a rally..... wouldn't boost that high in 50 kts.

... ooooo, those 08 rhino's were beasts indeed!!

BTW with reference to " ...Kiting, Micky Mouse sport anyway...", maybe were seeing this all wrong, maybe the writer of the show is a dead keen kiter who likes strapless kiting surfboards and is having a poke at twin tip, strapped in, kiting in surf types. Seeing as strapless guys are trying to go 'surfing' with a kite, this show writer is just out smarting us all...hmmmm the joke is on us!!

... or maybe their just d!ckheads!!

I'd like to see kiting portrayed as a "micky mouse sport" more often on tv. It might help keep my local breaks uncrowded for a few more years, before the inevitable over saturation that is destined to happen in the near future, as it did with surfing.

we saw it as well. couldn't believe it. her "harness" was a rock climbing one and they put a naish harness over the top. plus the beach was a fair distance away. at least do it on a windy day.

Well spotted, it was actually at Magic Maui Harness which was the ladies "Mystic" range before they went under the same banner. Naish wouldn't put their brand anywhere near something that dodgy!!
