Barz goggles sunnies work a treat. They float and can handle multiple impacts.

I had a bit of a moment on the weekend on my foilboard with my face impacting the board. I had a helmet on which took a lot of the impact but my left eye come into contact with something resulting in the Lip sunnies crushed into my eye socket. The sunnies pushed hard enough into me to cut down the side of my eye and bruised and blacken my eye like I had been king hit. I would hate to think of what might have been without eye protection or even lesser quality glasses as the Lip have silicone edging. If the lense had broken it could have caused serious problems so it goes to show how glasses can offer impact protection as well. The $300 spent seams cheap considering what could have happened.

Extensive exposure to UV-A & B will guarantee the necessity for Cataract removal later on in life.

Absolutely fantastic. Should have done it years ago. Good vision, repels water, if they get a bit salty give them a dunk.
I clean them after every session because they cost a lot. So what, put a price on your eyes health.
Yes I can see the chop, maybe not as well with them off but I am still kiting after day 4 without squinting and gritty eyes.
Next some idiot will me posting that they don't put sunscreen on because it makes their body to slippery on the surfboard.

Which model LiP sunnies are you using? I looked on the website and note there is one pair that are circa $130, and another that is circa $300.

I use seaspecs, and not at all happy with them which means I often don't use them, resulting in sore eyes. Keen to try some different types, but not keen to spend $300.

Appreciate any information anyone can add.

Stick a blob of this in your irritated eyes.... even on advanced pterygium..Gel is best.

Short answer, if you're worried about price then buy the Surge. They're almost as good as the Typhoon and a lot cheaper.

I have the Typhoons with the bronze lenses and the Surge with the Vivide lenses. The Vivide have blue mirror lenses but the tint is brownie grey.

The view through the Typhoon in the bronze really pops. I put them on and everything gets brighter and sharper contrast. The Surge the view is the same as any other sunglasses.

Typhoons shape is slightly squarer. Surge a little more streamlined.

Both have the same head band and silicone safety leash. It's very good and secure. I tuck the silicone ring down inside my wetsuit and wear a surf cap over the glasses. My cap has come off once. The glasses have not moved at all.

Typhoons have silicone pads all the way around the lenses. Surge has silicone just on the nose piece. It's quite easy to get a finger under the Surge to rub out excess water or have a scratch. Not so easy to get a finger into the Typhoon. The frame is in the way.

Typhoons have fairly thin arms. They seem a little wider at the temples and there is slight contact with the edge of my cap just above my ears. Surge seem a little narrower at the temples but the arms are wider over the ears. I find the Surge a little more comfortable under a cap.

Typhoons have the super expensive Zeiss coatings. Surge have no name brand coatings. Typhoons work better. Surge are pretty damn good. The difference between Seaspecs and LIP glasses is that the water on the LIP glasses contracts to drops. It then dries to small spots.

With Seaspecs the water stays in a sheet and dries in a sheet. Once it's dried you cant see. You can drop into the water to clear the lenses, but it dries in a sheet again.

LIP glasses when totally wetted out will have a heap of water drops on the lenses. As it dries the drops almost disappear. This happens consistently over a long session.

LIP glasses will fog up when it's hot and humid (any glasses will). If you ride around for a while the fogging clears. The vision can be pretty average if you have fogging and water drops. It gets better fairly quickly.

You have to look after your LIP glasses and there's a little maintenance. I am very careful to not scratch them. When I get home I fill an ice cream container with water and soak the glasses. Occasionally you need to wash grease and grime off the lenses. I use a few drops from the hand wash soap in the bathroom.

If you treated Seaspecs (el cheapo anything) with the same level of care they will work quite well. You still get days when the lenses gunk up and you can't see. The LIP glasses always work well no matter what the day. They might get a bit wet and gungy during a session, but they are still tolerable and they get better as they dry off or as you rinse them in the sea.

They are Polarised...meh... was just about to buy LIP Typhoons.
