Mates teaching mates. So many face palm moments!

Haven't really seen much good come out of them other than saving a few dollars at the expense of other beach users.

If you must teach a mate. Do it on a beach well away from anyone else. I still don't understand why everyone seems to do it on the most popular beaches. There's so many empty ones with the same conditions. Use some common sense.

Teaching mates on popular beaches should be frowned apon by the wider kiting community and locals really need group together and drop the contemporary ultra PC/do nothing/don't get involved attitude for the old school way of kicking douche bags off the beach. Not just mates teaching mates but anyone causing issues on the water or any disrespect of locals trying to keep some order.

Learners at busy flat water freestyle spots really need to pay their dues out in the chop (or somewhere else) until they can kite without continually getting in everyone's way.

If you must learn at busy freestyle spots. Do your utmost to be aware of where the more advanced guys are doing their tricks and keep well away from these areas. The pattern of riding or these zones are easily identified if you just take some time to observe. Continuous body dragging, kites at 12 and walking upwind in these zones is simply being selfish and stopping others from getting their fix. Back when I learned, me and my mates wouldn't even consider going anywhere near where the good freestyle guys rode. We went well away to empty beaches or space where we could flounder around without affecting anyone else. Nowadays every kook wants to kite amongst everyone, at the busiest spot, right on the trick spots. It's fkn crazy.

Locals have become overly tolerant of BS behavior at their own expense. There hasn't been any lines cut for a long time. Time to bring them back and stop the rot!

A mate of mine who is thinking about getting into kiting was down at the beach. Guy in red and white kite whose kites was totally under-inflated nearly took me out when I went to shore, followed later by dude in green / blue kite nearly taking out Christian and student when he took off from beach (kite went awol). Once it happened Christian went app **** which was totally understandable, a few day previous to this I saw Christan and a student again getting a kite swiped by another learner (dangerous job being a teacher - guys need danger money)

It was a very strange session down there, told my mate its not normally like this.

I'm truly starting to wonder if these are completely seperate events.

-3 different kite colours
-some people say he was self rescuing
-some say he was doing a tethered launch on a crowded beach.

Hard to compete with the level of sophistication of RPM and his posts. I was not there so I can't really judge. But let me just say that I understand where Ray is coming from. I used to kite at Pinnas as well but only until I realised that chop is more annoying than crap waves, and will never be as good as a proper flatwater spot and is full of kooks, yes ok, friendly kooks. Christian seems an ok enough guy but I can confirm he can behave a little like the beach police. But that is another topic. What I actually wanted to say is it is absolute horse **** that only certified instructors have the ability to teach kiting. What a pile of crap. What you need is a decent level of intelligence, the ability to communicate and teach in general, observe, correct, explain, and be an ok kiter with some decent experience kiting in various conditions, locations, winds, styles etc.
Business is business and this has some influence as well but this is quite obvious and I am not getting into this discussion.
What you guys probably really mean is that the beach is a safer place if teaching is predominantly done by certified instructors. I agree. And that as you are aware there is only a small percentage of capable folks who would be and are able to teach at a similar high quality level as one would expect from a professional instructor (but not always gets).
I have seen a lot of really ****ty instructors over the years. So please don't generalise.
Lastly, I am happy to hear that theWalks is now respected and liked by the Mullaz locals. I know Rob has always been... different topic again.

Unfortunately it is not just blow ins. A lot of annoying drive ins as well, kooks and pro wannabies. Any consultation regarding how to claim the spot back without being locked up is welcome
