I'm with you on this macro . Lets start being realistic its only a matter of time until this happens & its only an engineering problem. If we can build space station i think this should be simple. Ok my idea is bore a tunnel up the inside of the mountain and everything else can be attached . To the earthquake proof tunnel , don't they already make them for ICBM just a matter of longer & then install a lift for all the service providers & construction & cable cars for the tourist can attach all resorts etc to tunnel & air form ground can then be pumped to resorts & as a bonus it will keep the mountain there a hell of a lot longer. If it reinforced from the inside .
& people need it there to pay dividends to share holders .
Unlike now if it falls to the ground It reduces as someone posted 15 % gdp in one of the worlds poorest country's . Nobody will rebuild it or maintain it. .& in dollar terms what is there 15% worth a 6 month slump on iron ore prices . I'm sure the brains trust could spell it out in dollar terms . I truly think its a great aid package that could be funded by private companies that because it is aimed at the 1st world population spending there money in a 3rd world country it would not be the rape & pillage of 3rd world countries as we have seen just to make things cheaper for the 1st world .
Im not sure i can explain it but people wear clothes from sweat shops rare minerals for electronics are basically mined by slaves & its not a problem if its cheap & not in your face .
But if you went & paid to enjoy yourself being at a reasonable price & it lifted up the whole country it would be really cool.
Just a thought .

I must admit my first thoughts upon sighting the Aiguille du Midi cable car in Chamonix were "How the **** did they get that up there??!!".

And it was built in the 1920s.

Not that I think the Everest thing is a good idea, but I don't doubt it could be done.
