One MAJOR anomaly is the fact that in the story they say the Sun was setting.

If its in WA,the sun would be in the West and the wave would be backlit .

It has some low light reflection on the face.

I would also say that it is Shipsterns.

The ledge gives it away also.

How can it be back lit when there is no back? & over cast??

this break looks nothing like shipsterns. the ledge is in a completely different spot, and the wave is a completely different shape and length.

they are both rights and both big, that's where the similarity ends

Might be the same place as 60 minutes didnt their story on, that was Ross Clark-Jones and co, from the various interviews, it sounds about the same distance off-shore. This one was on tv about a week ago, the dude was being interviewed and talking about it being entered in the big wave, big balls, I aint got no fear at all comp. The dude wasnt even wearing a PFD/impact vest!

I've seen this story before with the same pictures - In that article they say its of the coast of Tasmania so applying 'users' sound logic that would make it east Coast?

OK,
'clops is on the SOUTH coast of WA which means that the sun will always be shining into the face of the wave as the sun is in the NORTH
