So based on the last few posts, it's likely that this will end up in HW...where the OP can't even watch or reply to his own post! What a conundrum.

Perhaps a discrete look at multiple user names from the same place (IP address?) would also help in the tidy up....

I can assure you we have many means of tracking down sock puppets

For some reason the Heavy Weather topics don't show up in my active topics page, is this by design?

January 2005. Not long term enough I guess. Access denied.

There is nothing wrong with lurking.

We don't all have to talk over one another, some like to just listen.

Yes it is - yet another way in which heavy weather is "special"

I don't really care about Heavy Weather but sometimes a good topic was over there.

It sucks to be kicked out when I've been lurking for over 10 years. (32 posts yeah)

I enjoy the banter between you blokes and ladies.

I contribute with page views and advert views, all whilst being an audience to the drama that occurs Seabreeze.

Let me back in.

I love Windsurfing / Surfing / Diving / Boating / Fishing / and shhhhh PWCing....

What is the definition of a long term member? I know I do not qualify, but it will be nice to know how long I will need to wait i.e. 2 years, 5 years, 10 years, only if you are special etc.

You might have passed the 'longevity' test, but you also need to pass a "superior intellect" test.
So far only one member has that so mostly the forum is filled with his contributions.
(and it's not me. )

One of the test questions is "Is burning jet fuel hot enough to melt steel? "

No No No Pweeds

The question is : Are office fires hot enough to burn through 4" steel columns

As all the jet fuel would have burnt off in the first couple of minutes

No need to go confusing the poor guy just yet

well seeing as there will be now new blood to convert, it will be just the same old nuts and naysayers. Perhaps the nuts will move to some dedicated conspiracy website where they will have a more public base to try and spread their misinformation.

Hi Petermac, post the URL for your blog, and we can all read along.

There is still such a thing as free speech, it just comes down to whether you are willing to put in the effort.

Public forums like this should only peddle politically correct theory.

Or put another way----- have a different opinion, then you only have the right to discuss it on a conspiracy website.

Welcome to Nazi Germany.

Looks like this thread is looking to get moved in to heavy weather - ah the irony!

On an unrelated note I hope everyone has read up on the implications of the newly passed internet surveillance bill...

petermac, I don't believe that Laurie (or anyone else for that matter) is stopping you starting your own website where freedom of speach (except from sheeples) is allowed.

Perhaps the changing nature of the internet surveillance bill (and maybe that 'heavy weather' is a distraction in a water sports forum) has lead Laurie to make it a bit less of a 'free for all'.

It's his sandpit, he is accountable for it, so he gets to make the rules.

I quite like heavy weather, I started participating under the theory that I could disguss things of interest with a community with whom I have at least something common, that being water and or wind sports. It was sad to discover the abuse dished out by some and I totally get why Laurie has acted. The robust debates are great, the conspiracy theories are sometimes interesting but it does seem to be collapsing into a disrespectful rabble which isnt too good.

If the reason he acted was people abusing it, the correct cause of action would be to remove the abusers, like other forums do, not to remove people because they are new. I do not understand this at all, but then again, I am new to the forum so what do I know?
