At 1:37 it looks like on the way out, after getting air he lands back on the broken wave. It reminds me that I've wondered whether it's possible to get through a wave, get decent air, but still end up back in the foam rather than safely past the wave. Over the years I've had the feeling a few times where I hover, leaning backwards past vertical because of the late, super steep takeoff with the wave throwing towards shore, and in the air I feel like I'm floating backwards, but despite how it felt, I've always ended up safely behind the wave, just.
I'm not sure what to make of this one in the video because the wave was starting to break when he went over it then he seems to have accidently gone nose first.

So the question is, has anyone ever done a decent size floaty jump and ended up back in the foam? I mean where you hit the wave square so you'd expect to get through it, rather than at an unusual acute angle. I think when it happened to me the wind was slightly offshore, which kind of sounds wrong, but I think it was the gust you get off the top of the wave when it's offshore that gave me the time to float back towards the wave/shore. I'm not talking big jumps, but say a little higher than the one in the video, but a floatier/longer time in the air.

Yeah, at 1:37 I was too late but had committed. The wave was quite powerful and already starting to throw towards the shore so I ended up losing all of my forward momentum and getting pushed back. Decided to bail because the offshore wind put me off balance as well.

In Pozo in really strong cross-on winds you'll occasionally land very close to where you take off.

Super rad! Thanks for sharing, sick footage. Can't wait to get back to that corner. Was a bit unlucky with a lot of onshores Xmas time last time. When is the best time to visit?

Had it happen freakily in gusty powerful cross off but only once or twice. Happens quite a lot if you're sailing windy x onshore/ fully onshore conditions when you hit it a little late but with plenty of speed.

My God that's impressive sailing! Some big hits there too. Jaeger what do you do for breathhold training? Thanks also for putting this up for us to see.

I try and swim and/or go free diving regularly. Always depends on the weather but I just try to do it enough so that I'm confident. It's fun too.

Best time to visit WA/Geraldton is probably between October and March.

Hey Jaeger I used holiday at Corros 2 to 3 times a year for about 12/13 years & used to know you and your dad who made several boards for me. I am planning to visit Corros early October, and have heard its really hard to get a camping spot atm and particularly in the school holidays. If full when I get there if I drive north and camp near windmills am I likely get in trouble with Rangers?

Goodies Eco Camp is another good option. It's just off the highway about 200m up from the road in to Coro. I do see people camping up near the windmill as well but not sure what is and isn't allowed.
