Got a chance to get out today. Was having a ball of a time until I starting seeing lines of debris in the water. Mainly wood, twigs vine looking stuff. On one tack I got thrown two times b/c of stuff getting caught on the fin. Tried to go round it, tried to jump it, thought if I went further out maybe I could track up the beach and find a tack that might have a clear path to the beach. Tried all this out for about half an hour until I saw a whole tree bobbing up and down in the water. And I thought it was time to go in.
It was just after some heavy rain so I presume that all this stuff came down the waterways.
Any suggestions on how to get through some of the small stuff? How to clear the fin without having to stop? I think the tree level of debris is not passable.

Where do you sail from ?

Up this area theres quite a few rivers that have been fast flowing lately and theres quite a bit of floating debris.

We deal with weeds a lot here in FL so I typically run weed fins. They blast through most everything, especially the Maui Ultra weed slaloms I got. I also have some weed waves that work just fine on my dyno. Think they are k4 dugong fronts and an mfc center.

But, if I don't have a weed fin or am running a foil and get fouled, I do a half-tack and make sure the board sails backward. Or, do a full tack. Usually see what was on the fin float out and off.
The backwards motion clears most of the fouling, about 80-90% of the time, without having to take a bath.
