Yeah out from 4 to 8pm at Mt. Martha with a friend. Around 6pm it came through like a mack truck. Over powered on 4.7 and 99L but was worth it. Got that lovely warm, sore feeling after a tough sail.

I caught the wind at rye for a few hours, then it swang off shore, so i headed to safety beach. I was having a ball in some nice side shore conditions, for about a hour, when all of sudden, she cracked 40 knots. and me poor 5.4 alpha went nuts. There were all thease guys out with gorge style 4.0 wave sails. It blew nutsFew guys i heard from the my martha club shot over to point leo to catch the crazy wind storm and ride the surf

Driving home to Mordialloc from Essendon via Beach Rd, I had the 'joy' of watching loads of people out along the coast. Ricketts was the most popular venue of the evening, with around 9 men standing at 7:15 pm. Big air was the order of the day - the reef looked like it was setting up some nicely spaced steep ramps.

This is roughly what it looked like (sorry about the crap image quality):

The swell looked most insane at Green Point for some reason - unfortunately no one was out there bar a stack (15+) of surfers.

Ricketts was pretty nuts. I was on a 4.1 and it was very nice for a while there, then suddenly.. whoosh! In came another 5 knots, then another 5 knots, and by that time everyone was bailing out or re-rigging. Spotty stayed out the whole time on what looked like about a 5.3 - the man is certifiable.

St Kilda had about 15 sailors on 4.5 - 5.5, before the front came through.

Once the wind settled back somewhat, some of us sailed some very good 6ft+ left-handers, that were coming through as a result of the new beach/reef that the council has built.

I would believe it. There was some nice ramps at Mt. Martha with no special reef so a man made one at St. Kilda would have been pumping. Doubt it would be 6ft without a mini storm though.

Just drive to St Kilda and look for the kites... there you will find many a sailor blasting away.

As Leman said, it does need to be pretty windy though.

Yeah I'd say it was 6ft faces at times coming thru at Rickets as well between the reef and post which was nearly getting submerged as the bigger waves came thru.
In the pic looks like from L to R, Pete, me getting some air and Hock on a wave. Yes had a 5.3 Kaos up and still able to hang on, reached 30 knots on the GPS coming in.

Jeez, I'm looking forward to the day that I can say it was 'me getting some air' rather than it was 'me that was walking back down the beach with Drift'. S'pose I've just gotta keep on practicising

Now Crowie, don't be too hard on yourself. You need to ask the question how long has Spotty being doing it for and how long you have being doing it for. Sailing that is!
