I couldn't get out today, but I did enjoy watching a few people looping and spinning off the Frankston Pier. Have no idea who you are, but let me know if you want high res versions.

Yeah, it was Evan (SHQ), Bain and myself (both RPS) getting some port-tack loop practice at Frankston.
I over-rotated that backloop - you can see end up crashing virtually tail first and trying to slow it down in the shot before.
I had the Fanatic twinfin, Bain the Fanatic Freewave - both boards excelling in those conditions.

Where did you guys launch from ? The Franga life saving club? I will have to give that spot a go next time its dead west, looks like some decent rolling swell for jumping!

Base of Olivers Hill, near the bus stop.
Works best in strong-gale force WSW.

And Evan's wave board of choice is the JP single/thruster 75..... A test winner and available to demo at SHQ...

I've looked down there a few times and it looks good, but I thought you weren't allowed to sail there except for down the Southern end of the beach (just before the rocks along the foreshore near the carpark in the background of these photos?)
note - I'm not a local
Keen to hear where you can and can't sail along there.
Only a month to go before I move on again and have to find a whole new coastline of good sailing!

Yep that area between the boat ramp at Olivers Hill and the Pier is a 5 knot zone. There are yellow marker bouys out there showing the zone. The Southern end of franga beach where the sand cuts out is the start of the no windsurfing zone. Its been there for 20 years or more probably. Long distance swimmers use this section of beach. They swim from the boat ramp area to the franga pier and back which is about 2 kilometre return trip. Swimmers generally dont go out when its blowing a gale like it did yesterday...but i would take a close look before i would launch. Might give it a miss maybe.
