All these events are state title events. Raceboarding will have a modified scoring system and it will not be essential to complete raceboard events to get the state title.

What a day it was on Saturday for the wavesailing at East Beach. A great start to the season. Wind, waves and sun- even if it was freezing cold. Very good selection of location from Al and Gillian- ballistic but not reckless.

Next event is the freerace and raceboard at Swansea on the weekend of 29/30 September.

The freerace event will be the "priority". Rules for freerace will be the same as last season, and will only run if wind is over 15 knots.

The raceboarding will run in anything from 8 to 20 knots. If both events run, the raceboarding will fit in around the freerace.

More details in the next few days.

Wind at this stage is not looking favourable for this weekend.

Unless forecast for Sunday changes dramatically by tomorrow morning, this will not be going ahead.

Titles will be awarded by the following calculations:
WAVESAILING (n=4+1) - 0.7 points for first, 2.0 for second, 3.0 for third, etc (best two rounds count) Men's Wave sailing State Title Women's Wave sailing State Title
GPS5 (n=5) - 0.7 points for first, 2.0 for second, 3.0 for third, etc (best four rounds count) Open GPSC State Title. Points for 2-second, 5x10, nautical mile, Alpha and 1 Hour are combined from a single days sailing
FREERACE (n=4+1) - 0.7 points for first, 2.0 for second, 3.0 for third, etc (best two rounds count) Open Freerace State Title
RACEBOARDING (n=4) - Max sail size 8.5. Must nominate 1x board and 2x sails for entire season of events. 2.7 points for first, 4.0 for second, 5.0 for third etc. Wind minimum APPROX 8 knots, maximum APPROX 20 knots (best three rounds count) Open Raceboard State Title

OVERALL STATE TITLE : combined scores from all WAVESAILING, GPS5, FREERACE and RACEBOARD determine Overall Title. Number of discards for entire series of all events over all disciplines is 5. In reality, there will likely be 11-14 completed events by the end of the season (which includes 5x GPS5 events)

DNS score for WAVE, GPS and FREERACE will equal NUMBER OF SAILORS IN COMBINED EVENTS OF THAT CATEGORY DURING SEASON (see example below "DNS eg")

DNS score for raceboard will be NUMBER OF SAILORS at a given event PLUS 2

Spreadsheet example of scoring system was emailed to all members. This format is designed to encourage participation and not upset the traditional events by favouring raceboarding participants.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
Join Windsurfing Tasmania as a social ($35) or competitor ($50) member. Social members get one free entry to WT Events. Competitors get free entry to all WT Events. Entry fee is $10 per event for social members. For more information visit www.seabreeze.com.au. Entrants to WT Events must complete an Event Entry Form prior to competing and sign ON and OFF before and after every day's competition.

NOTE: All events are open to longboards, race boards, windsurfer one designs and any other type of windsurfer. Foils are also able to be used instead of standard fins. It is expected that if winds are light, sailors can choose to use foils rather than bigger boards and sails or longboards. This should make it easier to have racing completed in light winds.
