Well done Steve Charles for setting a 35+ knot spot record at a new location - Derwent River (North of Tasman Bridge). Quite a few sailors sail here and it is reportedly a very nice spot to sail and now Steve's speeds show it is also a very FAST place to sail!!

Ever seen that bay with the tide out? Not very inviting, pure sludge I think But sounds like a good speed destination.

Best place to launch for sailing above the bridge is at the rowing sheds opposite botanical gardens.
Can't believe we never sailed there "back in the day".

Is that above Tasman Bridge or North of Tas Bridge . Darn good effort if its above

Awesome, so I might get some back up! Does where you launch from get affected by the wind, or just wherever is convenient? And what about the rowing sheds just near the bridge as an option to launch on the west side if the tide was low and cornelian was a swamp?

serious, you should see the rod mounts cemented into the rocks on the shore opposite Nystar zinc works.

Is this just near where the new park is being built? I went on a recon mission today to suss it all out, and that area looked like a good spot. I also went to the end of Talune st but it looked like a better spot if you turned left at the roundabout before you get there? Now we just need some damn wind...

Oh ok, I think I know where you mean. Does said kiddy playground consist of a only small slide and swings? Really small? Either way though, that whole area still looks like a nice place to catch some wind! Thanks for all the info.
