Anyone out there who can recommend a good waist harness that doesnt ride up or work loose after 1 hour on the waves, any help appreciated.

dunno bout the waves but i've never had a problem with my dakine nexus. Only time it gets adjusted is when i take a break after a few hours.

I recently lost the spreader bar for the Dakine T3 i'd been using for the past couple of years, and couldn't find a replacement in time for when i needed it.

So went out and bought a new harness from Pro-limit

http://www.pro-limit.com/displayitemv14comp.php?item_id=6175

Much prefer it to the Dakine now, more support, doesn't dig in, ride up, or come loose, and the spreader bar doesn't move around. Feels more connected to the rig as a result.

Also I like the quick release, although haven't been trapped under my sail for a while to need it.

Best thing I found is to try a few different ones in the shop, as some just felt wrong. I guess everyone is a different shape.

You really need to try a few out. I find that some brands fit my body shape while others totally dont work. So it's not just the quality but the shape that counts!

oh the only caveat against the dakine's (any of them)- do not downhaul with the spreader bar, you will break it.

Personally the Dakine with a sliding spreader bar is my fav.
I know this sound strange, but the key to it not working up is having it loose.

Takes some practice, but you just wiggle it a bit and it slides back down really easily.

Good luck.
