Being a Patrik rider I could not find a 122 (sold out) to use my 7.9 in "semi light" conditions. (I use it with my 115 in good conditions)

So with the sales on atm I bought myself a "new" 2013 carbon Isonic 117(1000$)
Though the volume is nearly the same the width is not, 69.5 for the Patrik, 75 for the *board

Now I'm struggling to find the correct fin for that beast, my 40 sonntag feels too soft (too much flex).

Anyone on here using that sort of combo (Im' 90 kg for 1.83).

What fin do you use/recommend ?

The 2012 models had two models - an iS117 (75 wide) & an iS117wide (81 wide). I've the latter and usually run a 44 cm fin.

Yes indeed, tried it yesterday, very good board, feels a bit awkward at first with the lowered deck... but you forget about it as it gets planning.

as for the red thumbers, you forgot your outfit !!!

thanks Shane, I also use a 48 Sonntag slp with the 8.6 on my 135 patrik, works just fine.

Not too keen on putting the 8.6 on the 117 though

I'll ask the sonntag dealer for a test try of the 44.

Had a go with a vector canefire 44 but felt too big and not "lifty" enough. Waiting for a CL 38....

I put the boom height up a few inches on my Patrik 122/7m/46CL fin and the board came alive,riding over the chop rather than thru it.

i find with wide boards they sit far lower in the water than with smaller narrower boards when up on the plane.

Too high a boom though,and your you start to lose control especially when powered up or over powered.

I have my boom around 20 percent above the middle of the cut out.

A 38 CL fin is stiff but would never produce the lift of a 44 cm Canefire carbon or otherwise.
