performance wise out of those fins id go Select though I dont know much about the Makini fins. Hardness wise G10 the way to go.
what size are you after.

Black Project Fins shaped from a solid sheet of G-10 so they are strong and shaped to be very spin out resistant

G10 is tough stuff.

i have just picked up a FO Nitro 44. It is rock solid and they are a reasonably priced too.You could do a lot worse.

I just picked up a 115 isonic, it came with a 41cm S10. It seemed a great fin while it lasted.Price is a main issue, considering my track record im going to stay away from the high end fins until i get this board a little more dialled in as im used to b&j sailing. I can pick up 41cm S10's for $145, The Makani fins are around $75 + postage which is cheap unless they are totally crap hence the need for reviews.

If you are using in rough water Lee, a softer tip will be better and easier to use........

I have a full quiver of black projects now, took a new one out last week and managed to hit a sunken boat at 25knots. The fin took about 3 minutes to sand back to normal...by hand!!!! It took longer get it out of the box, which fortunately was deep tuttle so the fin did very little damage to the box, small chip at the back. I know if I had hit that boat with a select it would no longer exist having hit a sandy bottom with an old select and had to repair it and then seal it with epoxy to stop it feathering up at the tip.

If you can get one over there get a black project, they will also come in handy come the revolution for swords and with withstand a nuclear bomb at close proximity
