interesting selection of boards from Sunova ,their SUP are pretty good ..

In an industry dominated by the metric system they give their dimensions in feet, inches, and fractions.

But windsurfers are newer than sups , so shouldn't they be metric ?
and
if they want to be funky old school shouldn't they be measured in cubic feet instead of litres ?

Sunova probably the only true Australian windsurfing brand, with global reach, massive product line spanning a range of watercraft surfboards, SUP and windsurfers and with a WA heritage. I think, unless I am mistaken, the brand in some form was involved in windsurfing in the 1980s producing the wooden boards back then from a Mandurah factory. There was a retailer who sold the boards in Cottesloe in the late 1980s.

YES Bert was based in WA where he was born ,their huge factory is now in Thailand ,
Up until a year ago all their SUPs came with mast tracks ...Tino the CEO of sunova is a crazy windsurfer and foiler .
Their boards are really tuff ...and you can get any custom paint job or measurements you want to order .in feet or metric .
I have not brought a windsurfing board off them yet ...but thinking of a custom ..

Thanks Tardy. I do remember seeing the Sunova windsurf boards in Jarrad St , Cottesloe, I think it was in the 1980s or later..they were not like glass customs, did not interest me and had vent screws or breather plugs. I thought it was weird but they are the way today !

I Do a lot of ocean sailing ,I'm thinking a free ride . 122 litre ..perfect for 7,0 and enough for up hauling .

yeah still having trouble in my head with feet into metric conversion ..but when i think SUP ,no problem ,go figure ,

yeah its gonna be a tough market to break into ,time will tell .their DW sups are great as their wave boards .Because they have so many team riders testing and changing them to make them better .Plus Berts a great shaper ..
I Think they need to give me a free one to sample .

Their biggest uphill battle will be the lack of demo boards. While I like the look of their boards and have tried and like their Sups I wouldn't drop that much money without ever testing the board first.

I like the idea that they can build you more or less a semi custom. Perhaps that would be the route to go.

I have the ACID SUP surf board and it comes with a mast foot insert. It is a fantastic SUP surfboard so I should wavesail it one day and report back. I once sailed a Fanatic SUP surf board and it was hard to plane and was slow because of the rocker but it turned well - but put me off trying to windsurf a SUP as it didn't work well and I have loads of windsurfboards to use.

I'm also wondering how, as windsups, Sunova's SUPs (especially the narrowest wave-oriented ones) compare to the 10'5" Exocet X-Longboard. I'm looking since it appears Exocet discontinued the X-Longboard.

Interesting boards. Proves that any surf board company can easily make windsurf boards :) and any bottom shape of V into triple quadruple concave inverted semi-flat sectioned mono will just fly with enough wind.. lol and then if the bottom shape is super inefficient, they will say that the board has unlimited top end..
Feet and inches is a bummer. All people I know only use metric. I also totally understand how everything made out of carbon, dynema, glass .. but how people manage to layup/ make boards out of floor planks is not obvious. :) You guys sure planks are not going to unclick on flat landings...

Also it was fun to read the descriptions of their surf boards and styles. Not coming from surfing, I can only understand maybe half of what they say.. Also generally interesting that in surfing world quads are chosen for speed to ride Jaws or Teahapoo.
