Having now had a chance to use the sail here are my thoughts.
Construction wise the sail is very well built and looks stunning out of the bag and sets with a nice deep shape and loose leach when rigged to spec.
The recommended mast is a 400 but I opted for the 430 thinking it would be better for my heavier weight, took it out for a blast in 8m weather(gusts 18knts), picked up a few gusts and managed to get a few planning runs, the sail felt great and had plenty acceleration off the wind, these sails do produce a lot of downforce and I had to run my boom higher than on my EVO's to get everything to free up but once all tuned felt nice and balanced.
The 430 mast did feel stiff and can now see why it was designed around the 400rdm, I managed to get the mast to bend off with aggressive pumping but may be fine in stronger winds only time will tell.

Was thinking about trying point 7 this year but didn't like the idea of having to get new mast as well so stuck with Severne.

I spoke to them and they said it would work ok but not great.

I use Point 7 sails since 10 years and I must say that I am especially enthusiastic about the ability to manage overpower conditions;I mainly go out with a wind called Bora, a very violent wind with very strong and long gusts so it is normal to have 25 knots and gusts over 40 and with Point7 when the strongest gusts arrive I do not bother to open to unload the sail instead I close the gap and I can use all the power of the gust.I weigh 68kg but the sails have a huge wind range so much that up to 20/22 knots I use the ACX 7.5, between 20 and 35 knots I use the ACZ 5.8, from 35 to 45 knots I have an ACX 5.4 and for the hurricane at 50 knots and more I use a Spy 4

Hi Rob, I am very curious about the ACZ. A 6.8 would fit perfect between my ACX 6.0 and 7.5 and the only thing that stopped me was that unfortunately it is not compatible with RDM. Any comment on its performance vs. ACX? BTW: I agree on the range of use of these sails. I am 72 Kg and I can use the ACX 6.5 when people 20 Kg heavier are happily going around with 4.5. Below I am on the ACX 5.4, foiling. Ciao (I am Italian too, but in San Francisco).

hi Duzzi, on this forum I wrote a review of an ACZ proto 5.8 and just to compare it to the ACX; in that case I had used the ACZ only once then I bought one and it was the sail I used the most in 2020. I can confirm everything already written but if you ask me if it's worth switching to the SDM for me, I'll answer you no because it is true that the ACZ is a little more powerful than the ACX but if this means switching to SDM it is not worth it also because the ACX is already a super sail with unlimited speed potential it is a little lower only in acceleration but if you don't have to race, you don't even notice. I think Point7 made a mistake by not providing a double mast for a sail like the ACZ across all the range, as Simmer, Loftsail and Severne already do.

Thank you Rob, that is valuable info. The 6.8 is a nice size quiver wise (my current gap 6.5 to 6.0 is very small for the ACX) but it is good to know that other than a more balanced quiver there would be little performance advantage going for the 6.8 ACZ. I have been corresponding with Andrea a bit trying to push for RDM compatability for the 6.8, but I am not sure it is going to happen. Say hi to Trieste!

I'm not sure that the gap between 6.0 and 6.5 is too small, the boom lenght's difference is 16 cm the widest in all the ACX set. If you have 7.5, 6.5 and 6.0 you covered all the wind between 15 and 35 knots only changing fins.
