What do you think about Phantom sails and they new philosophy to design sails with math/ science (aerodynamics,CFD..etc) rather than method "trying with test riders" until they confirm positive feedback like all others brands use from 1970s until today?

just marketing or future of desing windsurifng sails?

Doesn't seem a new philosphy to me. They would have nothing if not for their test riders - same as any other.

That video is a year old.

Membrane sails are no longer new but are still unusual in big rigs - for slalom racing most sails are still mono film.

For something new to take off it has to show distinct advantages, such as a reduction in rig weight. But above all, it has to compete in and wind races.

2nd and 4th PWA men foil overall this past year.

The sails look nice, Similar looking to Avanti's load path membrane approach - nothing revolutionary it seems, but obviously well designed as results speak for themselves.

I just took exception to the tone of the post. Seemed ignorant.... As if NP, Duotone, Severne etc don't "design sails with math/ science (aerodynamics,CFD..etc)". I am sure these guys rely on rider feedback just as much as the other guys also rely on analysis...

To get the most from any design you need both methods

I would suggest even if a sail designed on a computer was better than all othe sails it would still not be as good as it could possibly be without a rigorous rider testing process in real world conditions.
