I'm looking forward to reporting back after using it. So far initial impressions are of a very high standard of workmanship. The area where you grip is reduced diameter but then the boom bulges out to a larger diameter where the extension is, so the boom is massively stiff. Even at full extension (only 40 cm of extension), it feels as stiff as a race boom. Probably over engineered for a crossover boom, but maybe the 180 kg crowd also need shorter booms?

Funny, but people hate buying more than 1 boom, they expect it to cover a whole quiver of sails so 40cm adjustment will be an issue.

The description is exactly what I was making 25 years ago, stiffest wave boom on the market but in alloy, no-one was even interested ??

I don't get it.
The Severne enigma goes from 160-210cm and it is lighter...

I felt them in the shop, the North felt lighter. Maybe weight deflation is a thing on the Severne website?

I only have a wave boom and a Formula boom from Severne, and for those the weights are spot on with their website information.

My own "X-over" boom is a 20 year old Gulftech boom that goes from 170-210, has three pulleys in the back for an adjustable ouhaul, and weighs around 2.6-2.7kg. I'm using this with slalom sails up to 6.7, above that the boom feels to narrow and a full on slalom boom works better.

Has been a crappy summer in Florida. Had a couple of sessions with my Severne Turbo 7.5 on the river. I used the Severne outhaul clew pulley so that I didn't have to rethread the outhaul rope.

www.nbwindsurfing.com/shop/c/p/Severne-Removable-Outhaul-Hook-Clew-Pulley-x61449520.htm

Boom is definitely stiff and light, felt good with the Turbo.

North Windsurfing fixed the need for the outhaul pulley on the sail, and it's backwards compatible with existing booms. I converted my boom yesterday.

Video of rigging using the loop and go outhaul. Filming is awkward because I was filming with one hand and rigging with the other.

I had planned to use the 165-205 X-Over boom only with my 6.7 and bigger sail, but after breaking my 150-200 Aeron Carbon in big waves recently, I had to use the X-Over boom with smaller sails.
