Only what I can see in the photo. A slightly larger window and colour change. I also suspect a change in reinforcement layup.

Looks like the new North Wave only works with the Quatro Pyramid

Very interesting podcast with more details on the plan with 3Di and the traditional race sails North is using this season.

Well, I've jumped off the deep end and placed an order for 5.2, 6.0 & 6.8 3Di Gen 3 Race sails. ETA in about 6 weeks (coming by slow mail from The Netherlands). I own a quiver and love the 3Di Gen 2 Wave Sails and can wait to try the Race sails.

Its not like they have started from scratch and are new to the sport, the team bring years of experience and the 3di technology has been developed over the past 30 years. The guys from Phantom are also on board and have great past results, they may not nail it in the first year but I reckon they will get it together really quickly.

I think this is a function of the 3d production process as opposed to the traditional sail loft approach. Vincent mentioned something like a 6-month turnaround time for a proto; even if exaggerated a bit, that is clearly of a totally different order of magnitude than what small lofts like... Loft (in Tarifa), P7 (Garda) or Duotone (Maui) can do: build, test, adjust, retest... easily within 24h or less.

Yup. That is exactly the point why the time lines are longer. Can't see that working long term.

ben severne can build a sail and be on the water the next day testing.

also let's not forget the non pwa market is loving the 3di sails. It cannot be denied there is something there. Plus , talk that any mast can be used.. that in itself is significant.

Also know people using np masts happily. I think John above is using different masts. Maybe john you can chime in??

I want to use my power xt extensions so I'm going to try my Duotone & KA SDM & RDM masts to see if they work. If not, then I'll get the north 430 MDM which fits both the 6.0 and 6.8.

don't know about KA masts, but i've tried Duotone Platinum RDMs with moderate success on the FreeSpeeds.
the power XT may be a bit tricky… one local bloke has figured out a way to make them work by threading the extension in reverse
MDMs (ultimate or local pro) work best on the aircam sails. MDM or local pro RDM work well on FreeSpeeds.

Goya is a reasonable fit in 400 and below.
NP does well at 430 and under.

the greater mast tolerance refers to future product…
from what i understand, fibre layout/load paths in the sail body will do some of the work of the mast, thus making the sail a little bit more mast-agnostic.
Gen3 wave may already have this concept applied.

a good amount of that is taken up by the curing process.
after a sail is "printed" on the mould, that sail body needs to undergo a lengthy cure time (several weeks), then that sail body needs to go thru another factory process for all the fittings to be installed/ stitched on (batten tensioners, pulley blocks, fairings, luff sleeve, windows, etc.). add another factory process trip if you also want graphics printed.
so yeah, different pace for development/ testing.
