Howzit,
I'm looking at either a JP slalom pro 84 136 liter (2014) or a JP SLW for light wind sailing In Kailua, Oahu. I have a JP ss 124 that planes up in 15mph but would like to sail in 12/13 mph on those light trade wind days. Like any input I can get. Alohaz

Hi Muddy,

I had a JP 154 SLW that I sold for a JP 130 Slalom VIII. For my 80kg weight, unless I wanted to use an approximate 10m sail (which I didn't), I really didn't need the additional volume that the SLW had. My biggest sail is an 8.6 Overdrive which suits the 130 litre in that 12/15 knot wind range.

So I guess it all depends on (1) your own weight and (2) how big a sail you want to carry.

Good luck.

Hey Tony, I'm 197 lbs which translates to 90kg. My biggest sail is a Maui Sails 3 cam Titan, I'm hoping that's enough to get planning in 12 to 14 mph. Also thinking the SLW is a little too much. Unfortunately not much to try in the way of windsurfing on Oahu...the kites have taken over.

I would go with the 136 litre.
