There's a new sign up at Flinders Point Manly notifying of the impending rock wall extension work.
Starts September. Going to take three months. There will be no parking, access to grass area, or access to steps.
There are other places to go like across the bay at Darling Point, but not at low tide. The rock wall will be higher at the end ,longer and with a dog leg.

Richie, i saw the sign there today. didn't even readi it, as i was in a hurry to get wet. Which way does the dogleg bend? North? South? And how much does it dogleg? How much longer is the wall going to be? Hope it doesn't make things worse for us. Maybe it will improve for us? won't know until its done i guess?

Anyone know if the other stairs will still be accessible ?

Looks like there might be a bit of rigging area left ?

Clive, I reckon there will still be access to the other stairs but thats high and dry at low tide. Plenty of other places to go when the tide is highish.
Low water is going to be the hassle.

wouldn't the extended wall mean a lot more flat water for the perpetual gybers ? or is the wall too high for wind to cross cleanly?

would it be taller than the existing wall? edit - if the red is the base, then i guess wider = higher?

Lower wall is now going to height of main wall with concrete path constructed on top. Eastern stairs not usable during works period, stairs at wilsons boathouse remaining open.

Let's not stop there. How about
- extra steps down both sides of the breakwater extension
- permanent weather station with real time web access
- dredge the access to deaper water to make fully sail able at low tide

Revised plan for flinders Point.

There is common problem with launching windsurfer near or from piers. At extreme I found at Lake Geneva when we need to jump into freezing water from floating plastic pier , to start, or finish.
My solution is simple underwater platform - wooden or plastic deck a meter below water level and hanging on 4 floats at each corner.

It may work regardless of tide -always allow for easy "beach start" from any pier. Two of three meters wide and five of more meters long should be enough at minimum costs.
