Just saw this on Facebook, does it apply to Golden Beach ( I hope not) as I am not a local and don't know the area real well. Only sailed there a few times. Cheers

COMMUNITY WIN - PASSAGE SPEED LIMITS LOWERED static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/t7b/1.5/16/2728.png' />

In response to safety concerns raised with us by the community at events like our Pumicestone Passage Forum last year, Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) has conducted a review and community consultation around lowering the speed limits on the Passage.

Community feedback has come through with a resounding YES, so today they've announced the speed limit changes will be implemented static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/t63/1.5/16/26a0.png' />

This includes reducing the speed from 40 knots to a 20 knot limit in the northern Pumicestone Passage from Military Jetty to the Caloundra Bar.

The lower reach of Bells Creek will also have the speed limit lowered to 6 knots & the 6-knot zone within 100m of the shore will remain.

I'm so happy to be able to announce this successful change which will hopefully make the Passage safer for our recreational users, boaties, and wildlife.

We know there's more work to do in protecting our Passage, and I'll keep working with the community and government departments to continue this important work.

Does this mean that windsurfers can overtake the jet skis in the Passage now?

Judging by yesterday, they were still going faster than us. But my max 2 sec was only 21.4

Well some people just got no idea, a boat today(loaded with 7 people) hooking through at 25 knots at least, not knowing where they were going and straight into a sand bank. Not sure if there were injuries but definitely some scorched undies! So much more I could say........

^ Moz that was my Saturday/ Sunday arvo entertainment whilst living aboard at GB!
So good to watch the muppets smack up the sandbanks.

It was definitely an entertaining afternoon. Multiple boats getting caught out not following the channel markers.
