The Australian Mid Winter Youth Championships was conducted at RQYS Manly between 7-11 July.
Racing classes included BIC Techno 293, Sabots, Opti?s, Flying 11s, Lasers, 29ers and 420s.
The sailboards completed 12 races over the 4 days, in a range of conditions including a stiff south westerly.

Day 1 - Light winds from the south west 8 knots . Jacob Whitford scored 2 bullets and Emma Baillie 1 bullet.
Day 2 - Moderate northerly wind 10 knots. Another 3 bullets to Jacob and 1 bullet to Emma.
Day 3 - Three races sailed in south westerly winds 20 -28 knots . First race won by Jacob and the remaining two races were won by Emma Baillie. It was a very gutsy performance by Emma, carrying the 7.8 sqm sail. Jacob had to be treated for hypothermia.
Day 4 - Light winds from the south west 8 knots. 2 more wins for Jacob.

Congratulations to Jacob Whitford on winning the Australian Mid Winter Youth Championships in the Techno 293 Class.

Some more photographs of the action. Thanks to Janelle O'Brien for her photographs.

There is plenty of good sailing to be had in winter in Waterloo Bay:
