Does anyone windsurf here?

I have just moved here from the Gold Coast and there seems to be Good NE winds blowing into rose bay quite often. The breeze look quite steady also, i live about 1 minute from the sailing club so it would make sense to sail here.

Anyone is welcome.
Most of us have bought old Windsurfer One Designs just to make sure we get always get a sail in..... Might not be the answer you were looking for, but might be worth checking out?

I use the ramp, but some guys use the sandy bit.... 5-ish at the club thursday 28jan onwards...Just rock up...yell out if you need to borrow or buy some gear. Really cheap, and will guarantee you get on the water a few times a week....

Will be there next week, may may not have a board by then what sort of buying and selling happens?

thanks for posting this! This seems to be inline with what I had been told about sailing at Nielsen Park.

On a different note, has anyone sailed Grotto Point? I am wondering if the NEer would funnel through between Grotto Point and Middle Head.

I also would seem that the wind should be strongest around Bradleys Head and Chowder Bay.

I used to sail out of Nielsen park a lot in the 80s and 90s. The water police used to police the shipping channel quite aggressively - but these days they probably wouldn't even know what a windsurfer was - it has become that rare.

If you are sailing a slalom board you need to swim out 30 to 50m to clear the headland and then you are up and away. Really lumpy and gusty but ultimately rewarding - particularly if you pull off an impressive jump off the ferry wake to the cheers of passengers!

Unfortunately, ultimately you will see the need to sail at Kymeagh in botany bay - and suffer the lack of parking, strangely crowded beach and lack of facilities in order to enjoy the consistant NE.

Long boarding at WSC in rose bay looks interesting - might bring my 12' stand up paddle board down for a sail one night.
