Beef,
Umina used to be very popular in NE but not many go there now unless it southerly. In NE it is similar to Jimmies Beach. Wind comes over land, blowing cross off shore, a bit gusty. If you sail in the lee of the sand bars it is a nice speed run but I would only make the trip there if it strong NE. There are other places but many have weed or don't get a strong breeze.

Where would be the best place to launch and park in a NE? I've checked out Umina Beach before on a summer weekend and the place was absolutely packed.

At the very Northern end... look for the 5 big pines along the road.

i was there by myself on Sat and it was great but can be flukey ...but when everything come together it's fantastic. At the moment the tides are perfect ie the current is still travelling into Brisbane Water in the arvo so you have a current running against a N'easter, nice small ramps with smooth water and waist deep at worst. It's got to be one of the best places to perfect your carve gybes (but i still haven't yet!?

If you've ever sailed it when "everything is in alignment" you will be back. I used to sail it 20 years ago and I still am ... and sadly on the same board

Might even venture up tomorrow depending on the forecast later tonight.

Thanks. Love the avatar though can't imagine him on a windsurfer.

Heading down to Kyeemagh tomorrow but like the idea of little waves to jump and gybe off so maybe Sunday go for a sail up there.

I look different when my hair's wet but the top is good sun protection! he he he

Just remember, check the tides are fullish otherwise it's a bit hairy esp with the longer fins... sand banks usually win. The current usually lags well behind the high and low mark as there is a heap of water that needs to empty out of/enter into Brisbane Water. So after a low tide there will continue to be a current outwards for an hour or so and vice versa...

Starting to get the picture about how flukey it can be??
