Wavesailing in
SW: Cronulla.
W: Port Kembla & Gerroa. (+ Birubi obviously, but long drive)
NW: Bellambi.

Cronulla, 7 miles beach and Windang/Port Kembla beaches can all be good for Southerlies to Westerlies; depends where you stand on the beach.

Nick, NW around to SW at Birubi. Toowoon only good in S - SE. You could try Redhead or Blacksmiths Beach but would be offshore. If its a good SW on Lake Mac, I sometimes head over to Dobel Park at Wangi. Some nice rollers to backwind waveride and jump.
Cheers

Is anyone going to try and get out today or tomorrow?

I'm gonna do a recon down the South Coast tomorrow (Coledale, Corrimal etc) will any of these beaches be sailable, or will it be too big / dangerous?

I'm pretty keen to get a wave sail in somewhere. still debating what the best option is North or south? Is there anywhere south that will not be massive but still have wind? with this size surf could makaha be on or is the wind too west for it?

i was thinking blacksmith may be a little more protected. does anyone know if the wave that breaks in the Swansea channel is much good with this wind?

its a shame that windsurfing is outlawed at maroubra because its sick there in these condition

Tell me about it! I just went and checked it out at lunch time. The Southern end looks sensational, cross off to boot!

Yeah there are quite a few surfers. They are all down the Southern end as the North end is closing out big time. There are definitely no flags out.

Hey guys,

A couple of months back I spoke to the beach guards at maroubra re windsurfing south of the pavilion.
We are allowed, usual rules apply with flags etc. It pays to have a quick word with them before heading out though.
Kiters aren't allowed, they had a few problems in the past with newbies.

Have you had a look at Dolls, this large swell and the wind direction look just right for a wave sail.

Google Anna Bay. To get to Birubi Point take James Paterson St and follow it until you reach Birubi surf club. If its windy there is usually a crew out sailing especially on a weekend.
As for North Entrance, the wind is disturbed by the houses on the beach which makes it very gusty to sail.
Dont know if you have a car license yet but if you have take some time too explore the coast. You may find a new spot to sail. But make sure you tell me if you do.

Re maroubra, used to be sick in a sw or saw. Crapper out a little 8 yes or so ago when they did a heap of developing around little bay. Wind doesn't come thru as clean now. Definately chat to the clubbies first. Makes them feel important
