Is yamba any good in a nw, or does it need to be N to NE. Thinking of going for a drive this arvo after a snooze or maybe tomorrow afternoon, just coming off dog watch. I've been waiting a while for a decent northerly to have a crack. Cheers

G'day Wormy, I didn't end up going, I was watching the BOM observations for Yamba, did not really pick up until it was too late to make the drive. I am going to go up tomorrow, dare I say it- the forecast looks good.

yeah I made it up, it was good. Well worth the trip. A little bit patchy, however compared to the harbour was great. Cannot wait to head up again shortly.

I was a little under powered though, which made it a bit frustrating. I only had a really old 6.2 sailwoks synchro (it still has KA 43's stickers on it) and the loft o2 7.4. I mainly sailed the 6.2 until late.

There was another young bloke there on a F2 stoke and north sails and a couple of older crew. It was good to have some company sailing, things get a bit lonely in coffs sniff sniff hahaha.

Hope to catch up with you soon, will be down at the end of november/early dec. for a few days, at this stage still not sure if we will be permanent this year or next year. Work, houses, caravans and tenants to sort out and fall into place sometime before we can move into our unit.
I'll be bringing my gear so would love to catch you dudes for a blast somewhere.
Looks like theres a ripper N.Easter there right now , I'm keen to give parky/coffs creek a blast.
Anyway I might get some details of you when gets closer.

Yeah I'm not to keen on huge surf, I grew up surfing Park Beach and had some pretty horrible encounters with some ugly surf as I was to young to no better and not to paddle out,
We sail in bump&jump conditions up here, can get small swells to 2-3 feet. So the wave thing will be new to me but If I remember correctly the swell is somewhat sheltered on that section just south of the island. With a N.E. I would think you would be sailing to the south of the sand spit out to the island(pig island??) in somewhat sheltered swell.
Or if thats no good go to urunga, see what happens at the time, just hope it blows.
And don't worry, we are all still learning. Nothing like having other guys around you help you progress.

Yeah, I scoped out Trail Bay (near South West Rocks) a couple of months ago, a beautiful open bay, with nice sand slope into the water (so no shoreys), not much swell on a Southerly, dunno if its gusty of what but (wasn't blowing much when there)

Yeah, if there is a few of us, then it'll be much safer to sail around Coffs, as sometimes it feels sketchy in ocean by myself, with windsurfgear thats much different to a stick or boog

Station Creek sounds interesting, I've heard that Minnie Waters (same sorta area) could be good to

Yeah Armidale is better for study atm, and the wind is still here, even if its a mish to get non-gusty conditions, its starting to get warm (t-shirt and shorts weather is nice for up here), but missing the skimpyness, damn you Mabbott!! hehe

The Parkies shoreys are known to thump in hard, even in 3-4ft conditions, can be closeout city

Bump and Jump in 2-3ft sounds perfect, so keen for Summer sailing
