I used to windsurf a bit at Tascott from the Koolewong Reserve. Liked the area so much I bought a house there! However I have not been back for a while. I gave up sailing there on a NE Seabreeze due to being skunked there while there was a good breeze down at Kyeemagh.


Did you go sailing today? If so what was the breeze like? Brisbane Waters, launching from Tascott, is a great place to sail in a NE wind, a fantastic run over to the oyster leases near Woy Woy or over to the other side.

I often sail flat water at greenpoint in an NE or a heavy westerly. There is some mud (40metres) to get past if you have an oversized fin, but it is a great place. Grassy rigging area. I think the yellow sail is Paul, really nice guy. In fact all the guys who sail on the coast are nice guys in my experience. I have a Hotsails Speed Demon. Say hello if you see me out.

If your into waves and its southerly, get up to toowoon bay, flat on the inside with a point break.
In a north easterly theres a few spots, forries, north entrance pello's.

In a dead westerly theres baroubi up north or canton beach on the lake.

There are 3 - 8 of us who sail the nor'easters from Green Point boat ramp and sometimes from Pioneer Park at Point Frederick (when the tide is low or there is too much east in the NE'er.) You'd be welcome to join us.

PD will be more up to date as he lives at Point Fred but I can say that we used launch there occaisionally & it is character building. Steep walk down the hill to the water & a dodgy clambering over the rocks to try & get in without damaging the fin.

Agree with Bruce, the walk down the pathway is narrower than the boom length so trees branches are a problem and it has to be done in two shifts as the board needs to be carried separately. When you get to the edge there are oyster covered rocks everywhere and they a slippery as well. Booties are a must! Then the rocks have to be navigated till you get out into deeper water so, no it is not a great place to sail unless you are really desperate. I only sail ther as it is close to home.

I think I'd stick to Tascott. The weed and mud is a bit crap there but at least there are few rocks and oysters.
